Official Norcal Shelby sighting thread

Haven't seen one of these posted up except for the ones from the socal boys, but since today was probably the first time I've seen another Shelby (while I was driving my Shelby..other than at car shows) I thought I would post it up for us in norcal.

Okay....seen a '13/'14 Shelby GT500 convertible going northbound on 880 (Fremont, CA) around 3PM today. It was red/white stripes with the stock PP wheels. Older gentlemen with white hair (had personal license plates). I came up on passenger side and then his driver's side to give him the thumbs up:thumbsup:. He didn't even look over and seemed preoccupied with the front of his car (wondering if he was checking gauges or the track apps..not sure). I just cruised passed and I don't think he even noticed that another Shelby just passed right by him:poke:

I was thinking only Shelbys:banana: and not cobras in general. I see terminators every day and lots of 94+ gts/v6s with the cobra emblems, but I barely see Shelbys..hence the spotting thread:p

Okay..seen a black/red stripes (probably '12 Shelby) with stock PP wheels on EL Camino Real in Menlo Park. Car was parked in a parking lot at one of my storage customers. It looked like a DD and need of a wash:p.

LOL..okay it is optional to post up;-). If you are in Northern CA post up if you see a Shelby..not just a regular cobra. There are lots of cobras running around and since the Shelbys are a bit more rare it would make sense to me to post a sighting thread.

Posting a general cobra sighting thread (all cobras) is like posting a sighting thread for whenever one sees the sun come up (that is just me though). They are just way too common to see....:dancenana:

I've seen a 13/14 black with black stripes a couple of times around the Roseville area. That's the only other 13/14 Shelby I've seen on the road. I have seen an 08 white with blue stripes on the freeway around Sac a couple of times too.

Seen a grey colored white striped (looked like a '08). It looked completely stock (sounded stock) with an older 60+ gent driving it. Driving down Stevenson Blvd in Fremont toward Mission Blvd. I gave him a thumbs up (I was on my motorcycle) and he proceeded to rev and side step the clutch:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:. At the next light he did a John Force burnout:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:....

Fun cars:thumbsup:

Not sure what makes you think late model Shelbys are more rare than a Cobra......

For the late model Shelby GT500:
2007 10,847
2008 8,583
2009 3,559
2010 4,458
2011 5,026
2012 4834
2013 4,885
2014 still in production

So far, the total: 42,356

Well, technically speaking Ford did produce 80,161 Cobra Mustangs (including the R's and the 100 that went Australia) over a 11 year period. That's 37,805 more than the late model Shelby's.

Edit: I'd like to add that Ford sold 2,929 more Cobra's in 2003 than in 2007.

Maybe the older year cobras are just more common in Norcal..not sure:shrug:? Then again there is a lot of Fobras running around as well. This is off of wiki:

93 Cobras 5100 Produced
94 Cobras 6009 Produced
95 Cobras (including the R) 5258 Produced
96 Cobras 10003
97 Cobras 10049
98 Cobras 8654
99 Cobras 8095
'00 Cobras 300
'01 Cobras 7251
'02 Cobras 200
'03 Cobras 13,476
'04 Cobras 5,664

By my bad math while driving and texting I have 80059. Quite a bit more;-). Not trying to make it a pissing contest or a number game. Like I said it is rare for me to see another Shelby (especially the 13/14 models) and I figure it would be worth separating it with that distinction from a regular cobra.

I see my 07 every time I open the garage door. Man I love the looks on it.
Me too..It is garaged and covered, but I do see it every time I leave the house ('13), When I get home and open the garage everything is just better.

Not to offend anyone but I usually think of 03-04 Cobras -- sorry. I see way more GT500's here than any year Cobra. No pissing match here..... :)

Let me think..every car event (say car cruise) that I have been apart of has mostly 03-04 Cobras. I am usually the only Shelby, but the last couple of times I've seen older (like 08-09 Shelbys) in the group. Still....Shelbys were outnumbered 10-1 in most cases with 94-04 cobras taking even more space then the GT/5.0s.... I guess it could be the group. If you have ever participated in a cruise or rideout with SVT or say even CalFords...what do you see mostly...Shelbys or the older cobras?????LOL...:rolling:

Okay...put it this way..read the norcal "cobra sighting" thread and tell me how many times a Shelby is mentioned..2-3 times and there are like 5-6 pages to that thread...!:burnout:

Okay..one from yesterday...saw a probably 08 Shelby (personal plates mentioned year)....grey color..stock looking/sounding right next to the MB Aquarium. Per the owner (had Shelby jacket on) it had like 800hp and KB (didn't pull over to show, but his license plate said something like "215 mph club" or something to that affect).:bowdown::bowdown:
