Since other people have done it. Why not?

It'll end up being a 4 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage house. Roughly 1815 sq ft. Big Backyard, covered porch out back.

Finally will have a place to park both cars. Thank god.

The first day I picked out the land. In roughly.. June I believe

As of this week. I finally have a slab poured. Building up hopefully begins on Monday

Congrats Jared! Nothing like home ownership! Still haven't determined if that's a good thing or bad thing though.

Congratulations! Try to plan as best you can what features/materials you want. Any special plans for the garage?

Are you near a residential neighborhood, or are you somewhat secluded?

Congratulations! Word of advice. Know what you want and stick to the plan. Changes cause delays and expense that can make it rough for everyone.

Ah. I asked because in the slab photo it looked like you were quite a distance from a populated. Like out in the desert. Which I see is not the case.

Keep us posted (with photos) as your home build progresses. ;)

In for progress updates! Like the openness!

Landscaping is the forgotten cost of building a brand new home. I'd get that wrapped up in the home loan if you can.

How much do you guys think is reasonable for landscaping? I feel like it's something that can be piecemeal and isn't something you would want paid over the course of 30 years.

We spent about $5k on sod and installation, another $1k on rock. We priced out irrigation at around $7k but didn't do it. Also, gutters were another $3k.

I already picked up my color of rock and all that. Not getting any grass or anything like that. Out here in the desert the upkeep wouldnt be worth it.

Maybe astro turf or something like that in the future for now. I have no plans for grass
