My 04 Cobra just all at once started really bad creaking. It doesn't sound like one thing but maybe several things. I can shut the door and hear it a little, then at slow speeds its really bad. I changed my steering rack bushings, but that helped for one day. They were due for replacement anyway. Has anyone experienced this? Is there a lube chart which shows the areas to lube for our cars?

You grease the ball joints? I had a terrible sound when I had them installed on my other car and the shop didn’t grease them.

What suspension mods have been done to the car?

I ask because things like CC plates can make terrible noises when they are on their way out. I had one that would constantly sound like a someone was tapping on my strut tower with a hammer but at times would also make a wierd dragging sound. All this because the bearing had 3 thousandths of axial play.

That's interesting to know. My car recently started making a metal on metal type squeak when going over bumps. I double checked all my recent work and everything was tight. I've noticed my coilovers groaning a little more when making tight turns in a parking lot. I was starting to chalk it up to them just finally hitting that point in the mileage. I'll have to check the CC bearings now.

The easiest way I've found to check them is to get front end up on jack stands with a dial indicator on the strut. Use a jack to push up on the control arm to see what the play is. MM told me anything past .001 is junk.

All sorts of guesses here.
I had groaning at stops, starts and turns.
It was the struts giving up the ghost.

I ran my oems with Race springs for a time.
