Has anyone ran a 255/40/17 tires on their 93 cobras. i have stock suspension and want to run a slightly wider tire. i ran this tire size on my 97 GT and like it but im not sure if it will clear on the 93. thanks

I tried to fit that size when I bought new tires. When they were fitted on one wheel it was:
1. a major PITA to just fit it on a stock '93 wheel. You really want a little more width to fit the tire.
2. once fitted on the wheel, just by looking at it you could tell it was just a size too large for the wheel.
In the end I went back to 'stock' size 245. If you do try to fit the 255 size I hope your experience works out better than mine. Maybe manufacturing tolerances on your wheels will help you out. Good luck.

I've run several sets of 275s in the rear. I always use 245s in the front. Right now I have 245 Nitto DRs on the rear. My last set were 275 Nitto DRs on the rear.
The wider tires have to run at a lower tire pressure to get an even tread wear. I usually run 28psi rear, 35psi front.
Only use an experienced tire man or they will screw up your rims.

Thanks for all the help guys. I purchased the nitto nt555 extreme 255/40/17. discount tire direct has a lot of specials right now with free shipping if anyone is interested. It will be about two weeks before i put them on, installing a 355 gear at the same time!!!!
I have...I run them for a few months and ditched them. They wore horribly. Like was mentioned above that is one PIA tire to mount. Has way to small of a sidewall for my liking as well. A 255/40 is almost 1/2" shorter of a tire than a 245/45.
I ran a BFG 255/40/17ZR on my car for years, and I never had any wearing problems at all.
The 255/40/17 BFG was actually just about the same overall height as the Gatorbacks when I put them side by side.
