I have experience with two out of the big three. 2016 F-150 3.5 eco boost: Great driving truck, rode great and was very quiet inside. I had a Platinum so it had more bells and whistles than I cared for. MPG was around 17 average and the EB had good power. Bad: The 16' ecoboost had DI so valves had carbon build up and there was a large amount of fluid accumulated in the Heat Exchanger. I ran a catch can from UPR and would have ALOT of milky fluid every 2-3 weeks. Not something I was willing to own for the long haul. Aluminum body panels: This is heavily debated but I could watch the door panel skins move when opening the doors. So much so that all of them have what looks like a door ding by the handle openings. Aluminum corrodes: call it what you may but aluminum oxidizes just like steel it just turns white and chalky so don't believe the hype. Now I never worried about puncturing a hole in my bed because I wouldn't do that to such an expensive truck. 2017 GMC Sierra with a 6.2 Power for days! Did I mention power? Also get around 17mpg. It rides great and has a very quiet cab. I also like the underseat storage but there is not as much rear seat room as the F-150. I also run a catch can due to the DI and carbon on valves. (2017 F-150's added another set of injectors to clean the valves) Bad: I am not a fan of the 8speed (yet). I only have 500 miles on it and they say it takes 1-1500 for the TCM to learn and adjust to my driving style. 91 or better octane is recommended for towing. I have run 87 for just driving around and the 93 lasts longer for obvious reasons. Frame wax: I HATE that GM uses frame wax on their trucks! If you drive on a dusty road it's like being tarred and feathered. GM has been doing this for a while though and I haven't heard of any serious rust issues though. Take all that I am still more pleased with the GMC mainly because of the 6.2 and I feel like the seats were more comfortable.
