[QUOTE="Stock Motor, post: 13202562, member: 38641"] Hi all, I am having a hell of a time resolving an rpm-dependent whirring sound coming from the bellhousing area. The higher the revs the louder the whirring sound. With the car on the lift, and an assistant revving the motor in various rpm ranges, using a stethoscope, the sound is most audible right between the rear of the oil pan and the bellhousing plate. Sound is identical with clutch in or out. Sound is the same with serpentine belt on or off. Pilot bearing and throwout bearing are brand new Ford items, and the T56 trans has just been gone through ALTHOUGH rebuilder said bearings looked great and did not replace any of them. I'm thinking it could be input shaft bearing but I'm totally stumped at this point? Here are two vids in which you can hear the sound quite clearly. FWIW the trans itself does not exhibit a traditional trans whine/ howl when in gear/ going down the road.
