I used the factory studs and lock nuts. I had to cut two of them (one one each side) so I could get the nut on. I checked a couple of them and they are still tight after running it for 45 minutes. I would think anything but locking hardware would come loose and it would be an absolute bitch to try and tighten those bolts all over again.I put my headers on when the engine was out of the car, and it still took hours lol.. I couldn't even imagine doing it with the engine still in the car. I also used new factory studs and had to cut one in half. If someone chose to use the stainless bolts the headers come with I see the job being a little less time consuming, but then you have SS bolts in your aluminum block
