Headers and Auto Swaps

Ok - for everyone that is running an auto swap in their 03/04 Cobra - what headers are you using? Everything I'm reading is saying "Manual Only" and I can't find a solid explanation as to why or what gets in the way when using an auto trans.

I'm putting a full 04 Cobra motor in my 02 GT that has an auto trans and figured I would do headers while the motor is still on the stand. Just trying to see what my options are. I was leaning toward Bassani, but again..."Manual Only."

Any input/first hand experience is appreciated!!

For the manual

The transmission on ours is 2 piece.

You can’t remove bellhousing without splitting.

So an auto being 1 piece I would assume here is why manual only

converted my cobra to a 4r70w and used the same ARH headers/x pipe/catback.

I did a 6r80 swap in my 03 Cobra and used the same exhaust. Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes and 3in X-pipe. To remove the trans is a pain in the ass because i have to loosen the drivers side header all they way to clear, but it works.

I have kooks 1-3/4” headers and I was able to remove, install and remove the 6r80. Just have to tilt it the right way

I have a 4r70w and have used Kooks 1 3/4" LTs with no issues.
