Has anyone ran their car on a "No Prep" race track surface?

As some of you may know, "No Prep" racing has become quite popular over the last few years. Here in Texas it's real popular (I'm friends with a couple of the Street Outlaw guys)

We are putting on a no prep race at our local track at the end of April. I did the race last year, but it was in my old car that was a drag only car. I did fairly well and went to the finals and lost because I screwed up the staging procedure (turbo car.) The organizer has added a new class this year and it's for stock to mild cars....but the key point to know is that this class will not allow slicks or radials. You have to use your DOT street tires.

I have made a few passes with the stock Goodyears and it wasn't that great. It went 8.3x at 96 mph. I will need to practice the launch and shifting etc.

I was just curious if anyone has run on this type of track surface.

The driver becomes the most important element. No dump and go.

Isn't that just like racing on the streets then (but legal of course)? Or am I missing something?

I would think you could practice the hell out of the launch at an empty parking lot if that's the case.
