Saw this bad ass pistol in this month's NRA magazine. It blows me away. It was be an absolute blast to shoot.

KelTec P50: First Look at the New 50-Round 5.7x28mm Pistol - COMPLETE WITH TWO FN P90 MAGAZINES, THE ALL-NEW KELTEC P50 LOADS BY LIFTING UP THE BARREL AND SLIDING THE 50-ROUND 5.7X28MM MAGAZINE IN.

And just like that, 2021 is off and running. Leave it to KelTec to reinvent the wheel in ways that are either brilliant or totally unnecessary; but we think its new offering falls under the former. KelTec just introduced its all-new P50 pistol in 5.7x28mm and it’s interesting, to say the very least.
First Look at the KelTec P50 Pistol
If you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking at, good—KelTec has a knack for that. Historically, the company thinks way outside the box, as evidenced by releases like last year’s integrally suppressed, folding Sub 2000 carbine or 2019’s CP33 pistol. KelTec certainly stretched the limits of creativity with the all-new KP50.

Firstly, the P50 features a 50-round mag capacity; that number alone draws attention. But how KelTec incorporated that capacity is even more jaw-dropping. The company managed to keep the pistol relatively compact by allowing shooters to lift the barrel up and slide the magazine in. Yes, you’re probably understanding that correctly.

Then comes the actual magazine itself. So KelTec based the P50 platform on the FN P90 50-round magazine. The company says, "The beast comes with two of them" -- so that's sure to make shooters happy.

Another feature we kind of breezed past is the caliber. KelTec chambered the new pistol in 5.7x28mm, which has seen a bit of resurgence as of late. Ruger spiced up the 5.7x28mm market in early 2020 with the release of the Ruger-57, an obvious competitor to the long-unchallenged FN Five seveN. Well, now you can throw the P50 into the mix. We’re interested to see what kind of velocity and accuracy the P50 can achieve.

Lastly is MSRP, which comes in at $995. Meanwhile, KelTec says the pistol begins shipping in the first quarter of 2021. That’s all we have for now, but you can believe we’ll be first in line for a test. For even more info, please visit KelTecWeapons.com.

KelTec P50 Specs

    • Caliber: 5.7x28mm
    • Weight (unloaded): 3.2 pounds
    • Magazine Capacity: 50
    • Overall Length: 15 inches
    • Barrel Length: 9.6 inches
    • Barrel Threads: 1/2-28 TPI
    • Overall Height: 6.7 inches
    • Width: 2 inches
    • Trigger Pull: 5 pounds
    • MSRP: $995

You gave to give it Kel Tec for their constant innovation. Execution is not the best but they are not afraid to try new things.

Picked up this little guy this weekend. G2C. It won't replace my P365 for EDC but a compact 9mm that holds 12 rounds for $249 I figured I'll have some fun with it. Might make a good throw down gun.

I've got that same gun in OD Green and Black, I leave it hidden in my back shop in case I am working in the back of the property and need it. I like the way it looks and feels, can't comment on how it shoots, I'll know someday when ammo prices come down.

I'll take it to the range soon and report back.

A range review on it would be good. It's a bit small for me, but you can't deny it's concealability. 12 rounds with the finger extension is a plus!

Took it to the range today. It shot pretty nice! I took a pic of the target but the damn thing didn't save on my phone. I was very accurate with it out to 10 yards. Not a fan of the trigger with its long pull but overall I really liked it. It is small but it's larger than my EDC (P365). Shooting them back to back the superior trigger on the P365 is evident but I wasn't really any more accurate with it. 0 FTF or FTE was a bonus too. Not a bad gun for such a small price tag.

Thanks for posting the review. Sounds like overall you're a bit happier with it than you thought you'd be.

Absolutely. Definitely surprised how accurate it was out of the box.

Take a pic of it and 365 together for comparo

G2C is on the left. It is bigger all around and definitely thicker in the hand (that's what she said). Both hold 12 rounds.

I have been trying to find a P320 for a while since I sold my other one last summer with no luck

Sent from my iPhone using the svtperformance.com mobile app
Get the m17 instead, great gun right out of the box, I just threw a leupold delta point pro on mine.
