You can buy 40 cal 226 and 229 for dirt cheap on gunbroker right now. PDs are switching back to 9mm so they are dumping their 40 cals. Get one of these and a barrel and you are good to go. 40 + 357 for <600.

With the P226 .40 SW, you can do the same thing with the 9mm barrel, too, but you need to use the 9mm mags to avoid feed issues.
Just a heads up for any 2015-2019 Ford Edge owners who carry. I no longer have my 2016 Edge so my Console Vault is available at a steal. I have loved the fn 57 since i first shot it quite a bit over a weekend in 2008 but ammo prices really turned me off. I still might look at this though. So far, its getting great reviews.
Knowing Ruger, i bet stores let them go in the high 5’s low 6’s as well.
