Man... those look bad ass! Nice job!
Thank you.
Who do you get your lowers from?
I typically just order off if GunBroker. My next door neighbor has his FFL.

The lower on the pistol and the two lowers below are both Spikes Tactical, the lower on the 24" build is a Aero Precision.
I ditched the bi-pod and mono-pod today. Using front and rear bags, I shot the best group of my life. Five rounds at 100 yards, 0.625 MOA. Bone stock RPR in 6.5 Creedmoor and a Burris XTR II 3-15x50.

Great shooting. Hand loads or factory?

I LOVE the bipod I stuck on the 24" AR I just built. It's an Accu-Tac. EXTREMELY sturdy and easily adjustable.

Factory loads. Hornady ELD-X 143 Gr. What a great OTC cartridge.

I work 60-70 hours a week or I would load my own. Maybe some day.

I saw the Accu-Tac in the picture. It looks really sharp. Do they have the extremely versatile adjustability that the Atlas bipods have?

Yes! It's awesome, and different than any I've used. I have 2 Atlas bipods, and I'm sold on the Accu-Tac. It's hard to explain how it works, but you pull out on each side about a 1/2" then move it to the desired angle and let it slide back in.

So... spring tension pushes rearward as you lean your shoulder into it?

Any of you own or put your hands on a Walther Q5 Match? I'm thinking this may be my Christmas present to myself!

I have. It is a pretty decent competition gun for the price. I would be more apt to purchase the Sig 320 X5 than this gun. (And I did) The Q5 does have a better trigger than the x5 out of the box but that would be it IMO. And you know what they say about opinions.:) However, I don't think you would regret getting the Q5. Let us know what you do. Good luck to you.

I do not have a match but I have a bunch of Walther PPQs that have been pimped out by Apex. They are 100%. Best plastic guns on the market IMO. Do it.

I played this game with a friend at the range over the weekend. Highly recommended.

Marlin 30-30
Also looking at a Swedish bolt action for WW1, I’m unsure what it’s called, and I have my gun guy looking for an M1 Garand.

Pick your poison.

I am going to apologize for a long post... but it may be worth the read for some.

I am not a brand loyalist, but I am starting to think SIG is a pretty damn good company. I had some amazing service to tell you about, but first, a little background.

I bought one of the very first SIG 516 Patrol rifles they sold. I started doing training drills and spent thousands of rounds a month. Over the years, the system saw heavy use, including the upper running thousands of rounds of auto fire and simulated auto fire. Within less than 7 years, the system saw over 30,000 rounds. I stopped counting after awhile.

With all those rounds fired, the gun was 100% reliable. I never had a single failure due to anything but lack of cleaning and/or lube. It proved to be a true "go to war" rifle that I knew I could rely on in life or death situations.

A few weeks ago, within 100 or so round, my groups went from 1.5 MOA to 5 MOA. I also had a soft primer strike. I took the weapon apart to clean it to see if that would help. I found the the original firing pin tip was mushrooming. Also, the rifling in the barrel was heavily worn.

I called SIG to setup a service to have a new barrel installed. Sadly, they only made gen 1 barrels and uppers for a very, very brief time and they had no replacement parts.

After a long convo about my attachment and history with the rifle, the customer service rep went to the engineers and machinists. They called me back (unexpectedly) and helped make magic happen.

Normally, a replacement barrel would have been about $300+ from SIG. For $400, they covered round-trip shipping, machined my original upper to fit the latest generation barrel and piston system, upgraded me to the latest adjustable gas block, replaced all my springs everywhere (except the trigger group, which is aftermarket), replaced my firing pin, and did a complete clean and lube.

I am completely blown away. The turn-around time was only 8 days and I now have a fantastic, one of a kind SIG manufactured and customize Gen 1 516 Patrol.

Sorry for the really crappy pics... but I really wanted to share.
