I've seen many 350Rs with the red accent stripe and it made it easy to identify. I've seen pictures of later Rs and they don't have the red accent.

How does this break down for the various years?

The Red accent stripe was available for all years in the GT350. Its not specific to any year. Definitely far less produced with the Red stripe tho.

I didn't know that you could get an R without a red pin stripe except for the H.E. models.

Only way NOT to have red pinstripes on an R, is to either to have no stripes or get a Heritage Edition.

Just be aware that just because you see a red badge, it doesn't mean that it is an R model. I see enough faux GT350s to be leery about what is really behind the lipstick.
These days - badges, stripes, wheels, and spoilers don't amount to much.

I need some aftermarket wheels to preserve the stock carbon fiber ones.

Not to twist the thread too far... I am currently eyeing the Apex SMs. R model size, without being a copy. Affordable, and lighter than the OEM wheels.
