I've tried removing the one extension I have (Adblock Plus), clearing "cookies and other site data" and "cached images and files" and also clearing my entire search history under "advanced" since the beginning of time. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome, to no avail. The error doesn't seem to happen while in "incognito" either, for what that's worth. But I'm at a loss on how to fix this now without jumping to FF or ME.

Suggestions?

A few things to try:

-hit ctrl-F5 which forces a fresh copy of the webpage to be loaded.

-disable DNS prefetching
  • Open the settings in chrome chrome://settings/.
  • Click on show advanced settings.
  • Uncheck "predict network actions to improve page load performance".
-create a new user profie but if you do, custom data won't be available by default. This includes bookmarks, extensions and settings that you may have changed in Chrome.

To create a new user profile, close Chrome and open the profile folder on your local system. Rename the default folder to default.backup and restart Chrome afterwards. It creates a new default profile folder that is used from that moment on.

You can move data back into the default folder but need to understand that this may bring back the issue that you are experiencing.

-temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus.

Zach, if you're thinking of going to Fire Fox, be aware that some sites do not play well with it. I went back to FF about a month or so ago, but after numerous issues with websites (especially banking), I had to reinstate Chrome, as much as I hate Google's privacy invasions. Edge is my backup.

The only thing remotely close I could find under "Advanced" was "Preload pages for faster browsing and searching," which I disabled. I'm still having the issue, but it is MUCH less frequent now. Thanks for the guidance and I'll keep your other steps in mind.

Thanks for heads up Bob! When you say banking, are you talking about checking a normal everyday bank account balance or something more complex? Because that's the extent of my online banking.

Ive been using SR Ware Iron for almost 10 years, based on Chrome without the privacy issues: SRWare Iron - The Browser of the Future

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll keep it in mind.

Chrome isnt really compatible with peddo porn.

Speaking from experience eh?

I've had zero issues with FF, and not a fan of Google crap at all. Funny thing, our new work/office based email is based off of it somehow.
