I have been running MM front coil-overs for a few years now with stock rear IRS. I have kept putting it off. What do you guys like for a coil-over for a street car that would go with the MM up front?

The Viking dealer I just used said not to bother on IRS.

Recommended Viking DA shocks.

He could’ve made more money off me on the CO so I trust his judgement.

Jon Pavia on FB

Just picked them up and haven’t installed so no review from me.

My goal is a little better weight transfer for traction purposes.

I've got MM in the rear and like them. Installed Vikings on a buddies car and they're nice. I do wish I had the adjustment he does for the shocks. But not enough to want to swap any time soon.

i went from H&R race springs in the rear to MM/billstein coilovers with 475lb springs and found it a great improvement. slightly higher wheel rate compared to the average of the H&R's (progressive springs). roads are pretty decent around here, though.

I would look at bead welding the rear shock towers and getting a shock tower brace..if you don't have one now.

Check out the CHE shock tower brace..if still around...not sure anymore..

The Kenny Brown looks good too.

Unfortunately it looks like the CHE brace is long gone. My plan was to either modify someone's brace to mimic it or flat out build my own.

I have always found it odd that MM doesn't make one or mention the need. None of their instructions say a word about welding the towers either.

All I am saying is that if it were that big of a deal you'd think MM would address it.

Call MM they must have there reasons to not offer it. I have max grip package from them. Love the coilovers and the mm shocks.

They convinced me outta adjustable shocks. As I prefer to drive my car then tinker with settings

viking hands down. MM is running 3-5 months on everything right now, viking is 3-4 weeks.

we run the vikings on just about every street, street strip, and strip only cars. 1.1 60's for hardcore guys, or offerings for just street as well.

and like 01yeller said, the ability to have full control over compression and rebound from soft to stiff is very nice

also we are doing a big sale for black friday

:)

I hear you on that as others have said there is no need for subframes, and that only subframe connectors are needed.

But...I think I got that info on corner carvers.

Most of the mods I have are not needed for a daily driver....I just got them anyway.
I bought her as a money pit from the beginning. ;-)

Funny you post 2 threads I've been been through before.

The second one is the only evidence I've ever seen of a tower failing. I've read of one other instance but no pictures were posted. That's the one that scares me and makes me want to at least weld the towers.

I am so deep into my car at this time that adding more mods is simply not a good idea. I have plans for the rear of down the line and when i start that project I'll handle the towers and possibly add a brace.

Just because they didn't not often completely fail, doesn't mean they are not under who huge amounts of stress. Lots of flexing.
I plan on CO at some point, but not without a shock tower brace first

Trust me I am well aware that with coilovers the two towers are supporting 40 something percent of the vehicle weight and are taking all the suspension movements and loads. I am in no way saying the don't need it.

I am however saying that it seems like a failure of the towers is rare. But even that won't stop me from welding and bracing mine.
