I think I have two issues.

Just like the title says. My car always seems to have a strong gas smell. Basically if I have it running, and I'm by the engine or around the car I smell like fuel.

This morning I went for a drive on the highway, I can smell gas in the cabin. Also I had a loss of power, car started running rough, then died on me.

I pulled off to the side, let it sit for 10-15 seconds and it started back up. Made it back (about 10 miles) without it happening again.

Last summer I replaced the fpr, timing is set at 13 degrees. I have a o/r h pipe, smog and egr are deleted.

I just ran codes:

KOEO:
10, 15, 33.

KOER:
Says only 6 cylinders
94, 44, 33, 13.

I'm lost what I should look into now, but I don't trust driving it far from home now.

Any help is appreciated.

Hmm not sure what those codes are being EECIV. Is the gas smell from the engine bay?

Check all the fuel lines. Start from the tank to the engine. Does it smell like liquid gas or not fully burnt gas?

Whole car smells like gas. It appears the evap is disconnected.

Well maybe both. Smells super rich, like unburnt gas out tails and evap isn't hooked up. The charcoal canister is there.

I need to find the line that goes back to the tank. Hopefully it's not completely removed...

Still not sure why the car died on me though.

Edit:. Think I found it in passenger fender.

I was wondering about the charcoal canister last night. But when you said smog was deleted I assumed it may have been as well.

This may sound dumb but if your battery is still in the engine bay. Check the positive cable to solenoid. Mine died will driving two to three years ago freaked me out on a city road with my daughter in the back. It restarted got back home and found the cable to be frayed green death and bad.

The TFI ignition module failing while hot is very common. Let it cool and off and off you go is normal.

I have a tfi relocation kit. So it doesn't get as hot. But it's already a old one.
I really should order a spare for my glovebox.

I'm going to order one up. But test it to make sure it works. I had a new motorcraft one from Autonation. It was bad right out of the box!

Was this on a hand held or
Jumping and flash codes?

I’m in 1988 ford eec-Iv

I had brought this manual in 88 for my turbo coupe.

If you haven't done so. Take off the EGR and clean it out good, clean the Idle air control valve and check TPS sensor is in spec. Any of those can cause the car to shut off. As state the Orginal TFI module could be failing too.

This is with scan tool.

No egr on car. I can verify TPS voltage again. Did it last summer. Also can cleaned IAC last summer.

I see Ford's tfi module went up. Last year around 60 dollars, no 80.
