I run in the Florida FAST series (autocross) have won the last several years with a 96 V6 against 350Z, V8 mustangs and camaros. I moved up to the top class to run against kit cars, race cars and etc.

here's the project Anti-Rice

Brought home the $50 dollar mustang and put it on the rotisserie

Sweet project! Any pics of the V6 you were beating everybody with and what was done to it?

I didn't like the ride height of the car, so out came the IRS, and I then notched the rear frame rail so the upper control arm could have more room to move.

replaced the front springs with shorter ones

Much better ride height..

We ran it at the Grassroots Challenge, then went to a Porsche club autocross and ran 3rd over all. That little v6 mustang spread a LOT of hate and discontent!

lowerring springs, GT sway bars, 3.73 gears, aluminum flywheel, inlet pipe, dual exhausts, shifter and reprogrammed ECM. Ran 14.38 @ 98mph with a 75 shot.

The rear fenders are now on!!!
The passenger side was about an inch shorter than the driver's side, so I had to glass up the lip and re contour it to make them look alike.

OK so I don't want to destroy the air dam on the car from assassinating cones during autocrosses so I decided to build a splitter to protect the nose, I'd like to say it's for high speed handling but we all know better than that..so Off to build a functional splitter that even a Honda owner would love....

First off, I located some 3/8 plywood, and made a template, I measured 3.5 inches from the dam and made little dots all around the plywood.

connect the dots..

DSC_4206.jpg

Cut and trim..

DSC_4203.jpg

finished in bed liner, the most bulletproof and water proof stuff I could think of, in retrospect I should have made several small access holes instead of one large one..next time

DSC_4208_zps2d9502f5.jpg

picked up some hardware, especially the captured nuts

DSC_4209_zpsb63a780f.jpg

bolted the splitter on the car using existing holes in the radiator support and carefully drilling the slip of the air dam and using the captured nuts

DSC_4211_zpsc27a2f6a.jpg

Installed the aluminum hood pins and adjusted the hood height by using rubber hose on the pins

DSC_4214_zps4e15d2de.jpg

and ..done
