very nice she looks great

just be sure you get a declared value full insurance for at least 30k. Can really ruin your spirit when some woman texting and driving runs a red light and t bones you on the maiden voyage.

Will make you not want to modify a vehicle ever again.

Dont be that guy.

Looks GREAT!!!

Might be late to this party, but this is what I used over the POR-15 before final painting.

I had a Bronco TG that had minor surface rust over the entire thing. POR'd it first, then used this primer. Pic here is the primer in light blue (had already sprayed the white part of 2-tone).

That was 2009, and TG still looks great.

Thanks man! Actually, you’re just in time. After we get everything sanded we’re going to hit it with a high build primer and block it down. Will definitely look into this Por product.

The bronco looks great by the way! Maybe this method will work after all.

Thanks!! One more item I used where I didn't want the "high build", is the etching primer in a spray can. I used it in my fox Capri eng compartment, since I didn't have any metal work to do in there. I only had very small areas of actual POR-15 here and there, but overall it went on very nice for a spray can primer.

Self Etch Primer

Pics of my eng compartment if interested.

Cut, weld, fill, shape. This fender is getting pretty close. I’m sure when we put some primer on it we’ll see how straight it is. Used a foot long durablock to shape it. Happy with the results so far.

Hood is done. Ground out the rock chips that had a little surface rust, filled them, blocked them down. No dents on this one, went pretty smooth.

Brand new fenders (bought 4 years ago) had dents and looks like they got dropped at some point, both corners were bent.

Rear bumper had some gouges in the trim molding and the previous owner filled it with rtv??

Filled, sanded, cleaned up with some 400grit. Ready for primer.

Front bumper. Filled the license plate holes, touched up some chips, sanded down with some 400. Still needs a little touch ups here and there, pretty close.

And this nightmare. Started digging into this panel, found a lot of filler and a lot of rust.

Wish I had taken some more pictures of the metal we pieced together, it was less crude than the shots I got when all said and done. More filler than we would have liked to use, but our skills are limited. Still needs finishing, but turning out pretty good I think.

Had a few good days over the past week. Body work is tough stuff and very time consuming. Hopefully ready to prime in a few weeks.

I know you have a ton of work into that patch, but if you are keeping the car, I would consider buying an entire 1/4, and cut off right belong (along) that molding area.

Weld along that stretch, doesn't even have to be that pretty. Gets you all new metal in that area and a new entire 1/4 is surprisingly cheap........ (I wasn't able to find a full patch panel for that lower 1/4 area, only partial)

Pretty sure I've seen people sell just that bottom section of the quarter panel for this reason. Cut if off under where the molding is, and weld in the replacement panel from a car that was wrecked and parted.

I guess I didn’t realize how cheap it was to buy the whole side. Figured something like that would be way more. Will be doing some reconsidering.

As said, cutting and putting all the work behind the molding would hide any imperfections.

Thanks!

Only thing I found was 3/4's of that area, as I guess it normally rusts right where "apex's" did, in that forward area.

The only thing I would watch out for is panel thickness. Sometimes replacement stuff, like 1/4's is really thin compared to stock. Granted most of my work has been on 70-70-79 Broncos, which overall had panels way thicker than anything 80 and up, when new truck bodies came out, and everything else went fox (or did in very early 80's anyway).

Started on the hatch. It had a dent that needed to be filled and some surface rust where the wing rubbed over the years.

The license plate lights and lock tab are showing some rust signs as well. Wired it all down, not sure what we’ll do with it at this point. Probably por 15 then prime/paint.

Worked with the fenders for awhile trying to get the corners straightened back out. I think they turned out pretty good. Could use a little bit of shaping still, but pretty close.

Factory corner shown for reference.

Old picture of the door/fender that got blown open in a wind storm. Trashed the fender but didn’t do “too much” damage to the door. Was able to fill it back in. Didn’t quite get it finished but closer.

Finally a satisfying day. Body work is very low reward. Started priming a few panels.

Ended up going with the por-15 primer @OX1
