As much as I want to run to my Xbox like a crazy person and download it, I wont. I must save the awesomeness for the day of release lol

The Zonda in rivals made my pants tight. I took off all the assistance settings off and wow it felt incredible.

    here's my long ass revew...

alright, first thing's first, the speed sensitive steering(with the controller) is definitely still there like i figured it would be. the more speed you gain, the more steering angle the game limits. however, you get full speed and steering angle when you begin to slide and need to counter steer(I.E., the game is no longer helping you out in a slide - at least not with the controller). i'm all for this though, the fast cars would be absolutely undriveable at high speeds without it. you just can't achieve the same kind of accuracy and sensitivity that's needed with your thumb and a stick that has an entire 1" of travel(and that's being generous).

i started off with the scoobaru so i could get a feel for the new physics model without hurling myself into the wall right off the bat(AWD FTW), and the first thing i noticed is that the AI is very impressive. i thought the AI in FM3 was great - considering what it's like in every other racing game - but they didn't acknowledge your existence until you got at least right up beside them. now, it actually feels like they acknowledge that the player is on the track, even when your behind them. overall, the AI just drives much more intelligently, realistically, and you can set up your passes as such because they react much more like a person would rather than some algorithm that's meant to be 'challenging'.

the physics model is just plain AWESOME, that's all there is to say! i found the game overall much easier(and FM3 wasn't exactly 'hard', lol) because it's more realistic. drifting is WAY easier because of the awesome weight transfer, the way the grip drops off a cliff when the tires let go(FM3 was WAY too progressive with grip loss), and probably most importantly the sim steering. i always tried to get into some drifting in FM3, but the steering and grip loss just felt way too alien to me and i could never grasp it. cars seem to drift more realistically now though, which makes it MUCH easier.
launching is still pretty much as numb as FM3, at least with these cars and their stock tires. zero feel what so ever when launching off the line. good feel powering out of corners though.
but what really blew me away is when i was pushing 10 tenths in the ferrari, at the ragged edge in a technical part of the track over 100MPH. i first went with what i knew - FM3 style driving - and i wadded that mother****er up in a fraction of a second(and very realistically i might add!), lmao. doing a rewind and coming around for the next few laps however, i was really able to get a feel for all the adjustments needed with the steering, throttle, and brakes to hang on to the ragged edge at those speeds. basically, i love driving fast cars in FM4! i HATED faster cars in FM3 because it felt like more of a hassle than fun, A and B class were my favorites. this was WAY more rewarding though, successfully navigating tech sections on the absolute edge of adhesion just leaves you feeling like a straight badass in FM4! bravo, T10!

    now for the cars.
    - i started with the STI and, for the most part, i tend to be a pretty smooth driver. it felt pretty bland and numb in the first few corners but really came to life when i got a little more aggressive with it and started throwing it around. it's a pretty small thing, but the throttle lift oversteer really blew me away in the subaru, T10 nailed it! one thing is for sure though, it looks like AWDs will have to be driven more realistically now or you'll lose a **** load of time. you can't drive them like a complete retard like in FM3, lol.
    - i went for the cougar next, and holy **** is that thing fun!!! in FM3, muscle cars basically just plain sucked to drive because they felt like every other car, just worse. the cougar however completely felt like it wasn't even related to the scoob and farrari(and rightfully so of course!). to sum it up, i never had as much fun in FM3 with any car as i did with the cougar in the demo, it's like driving a damn marshmallow with wheels and power oversteer, lmao. the muscle cars will probably be pretty horrid things for smooth drivers, but they are about as fun as it gets when you throw them around and just manhandle them. can't wait for more!
    - now the 458 just seemed a little too tame at lower speeds, boring. i was able to hit full throttle much earlier than i would think when accelerating off the line, and accelerating out of corners as well. maybe it actually hooks up that good though, i dunno. you don't really see the car, however, until you get over ~80MPH, then you gotta be paying attention. it handles and brakes confidently, but the moment you cross over the line the bastard will bite! like i mentioned earlier, minute manipulation of all the controls is required to wring the best out of the 458. you feel like a straight badass when you lay down a fast lap in this thing.
    - the M5 is an absolutely glorious car to drive when your off the throttle, but becomes an animal when you get on it! very controllable slider, gotta be careful on the transitions though. might be my favorite in the demo, either it or the retarded fun cougar, lol.
    - and the zonda. so of a bitch! after playing this demo for a little bit, the zonda actually turned out to be pretty easy to drive. in FM3, R-cars were seemingly another level of car, of difficulty, compared to the rest of the cars in the game. FM4 isn't like that though, the zonda didn't feel like it was a 'difficulty layer' but rather another car, just way faster than the others. now, while the pagani may not be hard/difficult to drive, it's definitely difficult to put up a perfect lap. this is where FM4 enters a completely new territory that the series wasn't in before, the amount of precision and finesse now needed to put down a perfect lap - especially in something as ridiculous as the zonda cinque - was never there like it is now. that's not to say that FM3 was a ham fisted arcade game, it still took some effort to lay down solid laps, but FM4 is just on another level. you really gotta make use of the full range of all the controls, on-off light switch driving will leave a second or two on the track. and, just like the 458, very satisfying to put down that perfect lap in the zonda. ****, i feel like having a cigarette now!

overall, i gotta say that i am DAMN pleased with the finished product here! definitely better than i expected, just a much much deeper racing game. this is the first time in a FM title that, not only did i enjoy driving the different classes of cars, but i actually want to drive all the classes! i basically despised R-class cars before, but this whole new focus on the minute details of every single corner along with the FAR more realistic physics model has me looking forward to them! and it's that same focus and physics model that made the cougar - a damn E-class car - ridiculously fun to drive! every other FM title has had just a little bit of something missing, something that makes you look forward to the next title a week or two after you started playing that one, but i haven't gotten that feeling at all. and this is the damn demo! there is no more competition, the king arrives october 11th, no doubt in my mind.

BTW, all of my playing is with ABS on, TC off, STB off, manual w/o clutch, simulation steering.

O I agree the "snapping" action the simulation steering gave was amazing

the physics feel MUCH more realistic now and force you to be a better player

and yeah the Cougar was hilariously fun

can't wait for the full game

Clearly everyone on a mustang forum? Be realistic, most people do not care.
