^ Interesting! Sounds like Posi is still at it, just not on SVTP. Totally different situation, but I noted with interest that Al Papitto (Boss 330 Racing) is an active member on an radio controlled boat forum I belong to. I'm not sure if it's a full-time gig, but he's active building two stroke gas engines for rc race boats. Just FYI since we're reminiscing...
Please don't get me started on RC Boats. I had twin riggers, cats and 1/8 scale stuff that had records way back. Picco and Rossi engines back then.

Nice!! I have a few and am using the fact I have a 6 year old son to stay engaged. Most of mine are electric but I have one glow and one gas that I need to get in the water.

A simple one, but a lot of early owners shortened their antennas. The factory height looked odd, and shortening usually resulted in no signal loss. Simple process of cutting to your desired height, super-glueing the ball back on, and spraying the whole antenna or any area marred, to match.

Short-Shifter mod to move the shifter handle closer to the driver. First there was a guy here who made a shifter extender that changed the shifter location for easier shifting. Then @earico made these plates (and provided a template to SVTP members) to move the short shifter closer to the driver. His template allowed the use of a shorter shifter handle while improving the shift to 3rd. for those with shorter arms.

Some more tuning memories-

Diablosport Predator - does anyone still use these? I remember back in the day the question for a tuner was do they use diablosport or SCT

Eric Brooks - he started Modular Fords forum, then sold it and took a job at SCT I believe. I believe he may work at HP Tuners now but I’m not sure.

For those in California- remember RET (Racer’s Edge Tuning)?!

Eric works at HPtuners and I see him post on their forum sometimes, he seems to be their guy on the Ford forums but doesn't post much.

James with RWTD tuning had a lot of good information out there for self tuners, I used his information on combating the cobra hesitation until I went full return.

Rick with Amazon I think is the reason a lot of us went to self tuning. I had his unlimited tunes for life which he'd never respond to. The only way to get any action from him was to post in their vendor section here and then they'd finally respond. His wife would always post that it was in their spam box. Come on.......if that was true then start regularly checking your spam box.

After not getting any support from him I bought the PRP package, the funny thing is Rick tried to sell me the kit and offering free advice for life. Yeah right, you already proved you weren't going to give me any customer service so I ended up going Don Lasota. I know Amazon is the reason Malcolmv8 went to self tuning. If I remember correctly our friendship started via pm because we were both self tuning and tired of Amazon.

I missed the first 10 years of Terminator ownership but I do remember Ironhand talking about offering the hybrid m122 blower guts in the m112 case. I was pumped because I like the idea of keeping the OEM blower case and not having to really modify my car that much. The rest is history.

Amazing information in this post! Who would have known that crappy customer service from one person would seed the whole self-tuning movement. I wouldn’t have remembered his unlimited tunes for life if you hadn’t mentioned it too!

I didn’t know you could drop M122 internals into an M112 case, either… the rotors fit?!

iirc there was a spacer plate for the case to fit the longer rotors.

Vortech jumped in the game for a short while with the rebranded LYSHOLM compressor. It was a 3.3L unit that looked much like the Whipple 3.4L. I’m not exactly sure where it was on performance from a relative standpoint.

I also believe that Vortech offered a centrifugal kit for the terminator complete with a sheet metal hat (similar to the Procharger F-1A kit that is still offered, I believe)… But I can’t find anything on it. Does anyone remember this, or am I going senile?! I was talking to a local guy about trading a GT I had back then plus cash for his terminator, and he claimed it was the car Vortech used to develop the centrifugal system.

I think as Vr4 mentioned you just needed a spacer plate. If I remember correctly the M122 rotors were the same diameter just longer. So the spacer plate added the additional length to the M112.

The major problem with this is the M122 had a decent inlet opening, the M112 didn't, so you were feeding the larger rotors with the same bottle neck case. Speaking of this it reminds me of the guy making the frankenstein blower. He was going to really mod the case of a stock blower and I think the plan was to put M122 rotors in it. He had the modded blower case in the back of the truck out running errands and someone stole it for the scrap aluminum.

There was a guy around here running the Vortech blower in a comp orange car. It was a cool set up. I think the performance was on par for the other blowers of the day. It was mostly to be different.

I've only seen one car with the M112/M122 conversion. He was all kinds of excited about his 500hp. Never seemed worth it to me.

Anyone remember the m58 exhaust with the gas actuated flapper in the muffler? The crossover happening at the gas tank was pretty cool. Always regret never polishing mine before I sold it.

Most cared for the M55 although now sought after they made very few. M55 setups still fetch near 3k. Still haven’t heard a M55 or M58 in person but would love to as the “dual mode” M58 mufflers are a cool idea.

Remember the video of comp orange cobra with M55 and Stage 3 cams

I sold that one about 2 years ago for a decent sum. To be honest the sound was nothing to write home about and I still would choice a Borla any day of the week over them. But for nostalgia they are cool. Another problem is that they are prone to failure from moisture collecting on the spring and flapper mechanism. Still a cool piece none the less.

Yep I had the Ford Racing M58 exhaust as well. I removed it almost as fast as I put it on. Novel idea but was just way to quiet for my liking. Sounded like my oem exhaust to me. Borla stingers went back on and remain on to this day. And like you said the flapper valve is a potential failure issue.
