i had bad luck with rick/amazon tuning. i met with him up in the san jose area when he traveled cross country to do tunes. but it was the only time my car ever pinged. it was not good. also wasn't impressed with the after-job customer service either, he couldn't seem to be able to fix it.

but greg/ret tune was (and still is) perfect for both of my 91 octane street/strip cars.

there was also a socal tuner early on called powertrain dynamics in huntington beach. he dyno'd my car when it was totally stock, but i wasn't too impressed so i never went back.

Just looked, last location was Mooresville NC.

He was in Anderson, SC for a while. I believe he was the one that worked with Borla to bring us the beloved stinger exhaust. His Redfire shop car was one of the first I remember running the 2.3 Whipple. His background before tuning cars was an electrical engineer iirc. Talked to him just a couple of years back at Bradenton. He was down there racing at the spring break shootout I think it was. He has had some health issues but still at it.

Yeah, that's him. He's Brian Hartlage on FB, he still comments and posts regularly in the Terminator groups.

Yeah Brain is much more active on FB and even instagram as his new cobra has gotten shown around by the bigger cobra pages.

He just made some good numbers on a ported eaton; not sure if I remember correctly but it made like low to mid 600’s through an auto(?). Not sure if he had nitrous or not but the car looked good.

^ Interesting! Sounds like Posi is still at it, just not on SVTP. Totally different situation, but I noted with interest that Al Papitto (Boss 330 Racing) is an active member on an radio controlled boat forum I belong to. I'm not sure if it's a full-time gig, but he's active building two stroke gas engines for rc race boats. Just FYI since we're reminiscing...

Didn't Stegmeier originally port for Apten?
Yes. I was the second porting customer for Apten. At that time, Brian, the owner of Apten told me that a third party was doing the actual porting. That was Stiegemeier. Eventually Apten sold the company to Modular Depot. Here are a couple of Apten related threads that bring back memories.

This thread on ModularFords from 2005 explains Modular Depot's testing port designs.

Did he have a high winding N/A 5.4L that ran 9s before?

I am actually not sure but that would be very likely. He emerged as one of the premier mod motor builders early on. I am not sure exactly what happened, but understand there were some angry customers as he left the scene. I’m sure others here can provide a lot better information.
