Ford just announced the Maverick Lobo as the street truck variant of the Maverick.

2.0L Ecoboost
7 speed transmission out of Euro Focus
Steering Rack from Euro Puma
Front brakes from Euro Focus ST
.5" lower up front / 1.1" lower in rear(.8 lower roof line)
Monotube rear shocks from Tremor retuned for Lobo
Dual Clutch Rear Drive Unit - aka the clutched Focus RS diff / Bronco Sport rear diff
Torque Vectoring
19" wheels that harken back to Escort Cosworth OZ wheels

Sounds pretty nice for a parts bin special that harkens back to the 2014 F150 Tremor. Wondering if it sells enough will it get an ST variant?

Looks like horsepower has been reduced from 250 to 238. I'm not digging the wheels, but the concept of a street truck like this will be compelling for a lot of potential customers.

I read that it was due to California emissions restrictions? Then the article went to talk about it it was a clerical change and didnt effect the output?

Id hope Ford Performance releases a tune for the Federal states that ups it quite a bit.

330hp in this thing would be a riot.

FWIW, GMC Typhoon was 280hp/3800lbs curb weight. The Maverick 2.0L AWD is 250/3700lbs. So a tune would really setup the Lobo for some fun.

I just can't get into the Mav.

Sent from my SM-S908U using the svtperformance.com mobile app

I've driven a bunch of them. My favorite is still the base model hybrid with cloth seats. IMO, that's the one that makes the most sense. And since that powertrain is getting a lot of upgrades and options, that version is getting even better.

Not really a fan.

I have the lightest 2.0EB/AWD and besides getting ready to install my tune, I think it'll be fine. For selling so many of these vehicles, the aftermarket seems a bit small.

I always thought it would have made more sense to have a street variant of the Maverick than the “off road” Tremor option.

This is a very half-ass attempt at a performance truck. Hell, it has 225 section width Goodyear Wrangler tires for God's sake. Why not just drop the Focus RS drivetrain and give people what they really want Ford?

For sure, a lot of truck fans of this platform would love to see 330hp, but it won't be hard to tune the 2.0 to that power level. (y)

It is the same transmission, just programmed to skip 2nd gear and shift better supposedly. My Cobb tuner has that baked in for the Maverick and although I had custom tuning done, I kept the Cobb Sport+ transmission tuning because they do that plus mess with the torque management for quicker shifts, launches, etc. They also allow it upshift when you let off the gas from WOT in Sport. Stock it keeps it engine braking until you touch the throttle again. It's nice.

Well that sucks...I thought it was getting a "special" transmission...not just different tuning.

I wonder if it will get the lower final drive ratio that comes in the 4K tow package mavs?
