Half of my extended family is "disabled" and on some form of .gov assistance including my dear old mom, and I have no problem with this. When you can use your SNAP card for Little Caesars, Monster Energy drinks, donuts, etc. it means we have missed the mark. Not to mention the ones that sell their SNAP credits for .50 on the dollar to get cash for other nefarious reasons. As far as i'm concerned, if I take you out for dinner and I'm paying for the meal, you're damn right I have a say in what you order, and this situation is no different. For some reason we have all been guilted into accepting that they should be able to buy steak and crab legs because (insert occasion here) and we don't understand... Screw that, these are our tax dollars and we should find a way to feed the less fortunate (including my redneck family) in the most efficient way possible. I come from divorced parents, and we got government cheese, peanut butter, bread, etc. and it did the trick and helped subsidize our weekly grocery costs, but I could certainly see things going sideways if my mom had a SNAP card back then.
