First time at the track...I suck

Hey guys, I need a lil’ info…

Over the past two weeks have done the following mods:

Stock Mach1 rear end
Apten
Billetflow 2.76 & idlers
Predator tune from RWTD
H&R supersports
And Tokico shocks & struts

After all of this I figured I would take the car to the track and see what it would do. It was my first time ever running so I didn’t plan on setting any records, but I was pretty disappointed. I could not hook at all(stock tires). Not even a little. My best run was a 12.4. On that run I didn’t really get on it until half way through 2nd. I know I suck, but I thought that was slow even on the stock F1’s. What do you guys run with close to the same mods & F1’s? How much time do you think a set of ET Streets would take off? Any input or tips are greatly appreciated.

Thanks
PB

Give us a break down of your 2 best runs so we can see how they look. Kind of hard to go off of just a 12.4. I swore I would never go to the track again on street tires. My first time out on the F1's was a 13.3 @ 106 and hated every run because of the lack of traction. Went out again on my Pirelli's and mustered up a 13.7 @ 105 at a track that is known for being slow. I WILL NEVER go back to the track on street tires again. Already bought some 15" steel rims to go with the ET Streets I have on my LX.

Let us know the break down and we can help you some more. And get some tires ;-)

I got a 12.313@115 with a 95mm MAF, SLP catback, 2.93 pulley and a Predator tune, on the F1s. I found my launches were the issue. I didn't go through the box, just a little dry hop and my traction improved over the burn out. Also I left the line @3000 and slipped the crap out of my clutch. Of my four runs that day I did a 12.313, 12.379, 12.6 and 12.9. The slower runs were later when the heat was building up. My 60" times were 2.0 to 2.3. Do you have a larger HE? You might want to consider it because you are spinning the blower much faster and your stock HE's cooling efficiency will not be sufficient.

Your 1/8 and 1/4 mile traps seem really low. What are you shifting at?? What is the tracks DA???? Your low traps can also be contributed to you not giving it full throttle untill well into 2nd. On F1's, consider yourself lucky to get those times. A 2.1 60' with close to 500rwhp on crappy F1's isn't "easy". A 2.1 is an average time for normal radials. Get some ET Streets and hammer away!

Nope, stock HE. I didn't think about that, I did drive for about 1 1/2 hours, then get right on the track. I didn't do any type of burnout, just rolled up to the line. I remember reading on here somewhere that it doesn't do any good.

Thanks for the help,
PB

Yeah I can attest for the DA killing your times. Nothing worse than putting down a correct 412rwhp and only running a 13.3@106!! I need to find some place close to sea level and try a few runs. Our track alone sits at 4,100' and then when you add the weather, it only gets worse.

With 118-119mph traps you should go high 11's with a set of DR's heated up real well

I went to the track the other night and pulled a 1.91 60' time on the F1's. We were only running the 1/8 mile cause the track was wet on the back side. That is the best 60' time i've ever pulled but I missed third gear and ended up with and 8.3 @ 75 mph. I was so pissed!!!! My next mod will be the MGW shifter!!

My first run ever in the cobra with 3.0, not tune and CAI was 13.7. YUCK!!!!! I ended up with a 12.8 @ 113mph by the end of that night.
