Although I had pretty much stopped driving my 2013 Shelby GT500 for the season, I'm dusting it off for a big drive tomorrow. So it just so happened that my folks are in town this weekend (they live several hours away) and I have been wanting to take my Father on a nice scenic cruise or roadtrip the past year I've owned the car. I just remembered tonight that some local Mustang clubs are doing a 225 mile cruise tomorrow and he said he'd love to go (after Mom said it was fine). We'll take turns driving and there will be some great photo ops. Some of you all may remember that one of the main reasons I got the car was my Dad also owned a Shelby GT500, 1967 model, while he was growing up and he had to sell the car when I was very young to take care of his family of five. I ordered and purchased mine last year and completely surprised him with it at the delivery (30 years after he sold his Shelby in 1982). It was one of the best days of my life, and his! Although the car is my responsiblity I also put his name on the title with mine. Although he has ridden in and drove the car a couple of times, we've never had a chance to go on a good scenic cruise. This will be a childhood dream come true for me tomorrow and it will be hard to get some sleep tonight. Wish us safe driving and no tire blowouts!
