Finally built a MAME box

For those that are like " wtf is a mame box"

Basically it's a box loaded with emulators/movies/etc. This one is my game mame box.

I have 14,000 games readily available from Atari, NES, PlayStation, all coin operated games that were in the arcade that never made it to consoles. Etc... You name the console. It has the games. ( other than New games)

It's completely all 720p ( no need for 1080 with retro games) sorted by console, by game, with a demo mode

It's basically an Xbox ( from the 90s)

Guts ripped out, upgraded HD to a 2tb hard drive. "Hacked" firmware.. Added XBMC with quite a few add-ons and mods

And lots and lots of downloaded games

That's the next step. Is creating something like that for it. Would make 4 player games more than using xbox controllers.

I have 5 different types of controllers depending on the console, but usually I will just use Xbox ones. Better than swapping and button mapping is simple

So go step by step in a way. Im familiar with kodi. What addons are you using and where you getting the games and how are you adding the games. Im wanting to try this with a rooted fire tv with an external drive and one of theyre gaming remotes.

Main add on is XBMC. Emulators are also the add-ons and choosing which emulators you want to run. You also have to download all the .jpgs to show the art for the game, or the art for the emulator screen.

External drive.. Depends on what games you want on how big of a drive you want. Personally I'd rather not use your TV ( fire) as the Ram isn't sufficient IMO to run certain games. You can run NES,SNES probably.. Once you step up to the Ps1, N64, Ps2, etc.. It'll likely be laggy

Pi is what I use to run a media server. Pi is awesome

Getting the room setup for basically recording playthroughs for the youtube channel.

Going to run it through the TV and then I have custom desktop being built now with the triple monitor setup for video/audio production

It's a little cluttered for now as I still dont know if this is where I want to put all of this in the room
