eh, that's why i didnt jump all over you. and he didnt appear to call you out to be a scammer. he was just disappointed with the way his $4.5k purchase arrived, which is understandable. not 100% your fault, and certainly not the buyers. this is the result of jackasses in the shipping company playing rugby with the merchandise. i was thinking maybe Customs might have opened it up but i just asked my girl who is a customs agent. she looked at the pics and said it wasnt US customs because they would try to wrap them back up and there would be green "US Customs DHS" tape all over it. she said its possible that Canadian Customs opened it up, since she's not familiar with how they repackage stuff. (she handles exports). it does look like you used a LOT of saran wrap. looks like more than i typically use, lol. and if you used bubble wrap and cardboard like you said, than you did good there. the only mistake on your part was using the blue tape. the saran wrap stuff is really good on its own but not good enough. hopefully everyone reading this thread can take this as a learning lesson. USE SHIPPING TAPE! if you want to be extra anal about it, use strapping tape! i think the OP quite possibly adequately wrapped them up to the point of the tape. BUT, if he wrapped the hell out of them, which it really looks like he did, then they really could possibly hold their own even without tape. its tough to say and its a gamble. it all depends on the shipping company and how careful the employees feel like being that day. ive shipped stuff in which the box showed up in mint condition and there have been other times where the boxes looked like they literally fell off the back of the truck :kaboom: as for the insurance, when i ship to Canada i always discuss these things with the buyers in full detail (unless its something small and inexpensive). yes you tried to hook the buyer up buying insuring it for less but now its blowing up in your face. had you gotten his approval for this first, you'd have that to stand behind at least... besides, whatever you insure it for doesnt really have anything to do with any taxes or fees or anything. that is based off the amount that the shipper declares in the customs paperwork. you can declare them to be worth $5k but only insure them for $200. now whether or not you declared them for the insured amount isnt typed up here and you should keep it that way. no sense in publicly declaring that you falsified customs paperwork, no what i mean? :read: every day my girl tells me about cars and packages they seize because the paper work was funny or false. and its a crime. but the insurance part has nothing to do with that, so keep it at that :read: the seller has already called me and left me a voicemail about this so ill try to help out both parties as best i can. email me lunatic info@trueforgedwheels.com). ill either email you back or try to give you a call back over the weekend. im doing the same thing for 2 parties right now who did a transaction over a set of used TF wheels that were damaged during shipping. ill try to help you guys out so it is the easiest and most cost effective way to have them back looking beautiful again  and dont be surprised if this Purolator(?) company denies the claim, saying it wasnt packaged right. theyre probably going to want to send someone out to inspect the packaging. for anything over $100 they get extremely anal about it. i was just discussing my damaged wheel today at our factory. the secretary said they spend $10k a month with UPS and they still have to fight with them over $200 claims :bored: the wheel that i mentioned that was damaged during shipping recently needs the lip replaced which is going to cost a few hundred bucks, plus taking the tire off, putting it back on, and shipping it across the country again. :bored: thanks fedex! :kaboom: but for the most part, ive had very good luck with shipping through them. but every now and then it will happen. just a part of the business. unfortunately it happend to you guys on your first attempt :read::shrug: like i said before, BE HAPPY theyre polished wheels. they can easily be made to look better than when the OP had them. if they were chrome you'd be ****ed :kaboom: God willing the shipping company will pay the insurance claim and that will be more than enough to have these looking like new again.
