2 sort of. Had an F80 BMW M3 that was a DD, traded for a new M2 CS, that I really never drive, not sure why, great car (maybe Im trying to keep miles off it?). 2008 GT500 (bought new), with the other cars / mustangs we have, I find I have to force myself to drive it. Both I probably won't sell, but if I had not bought both I would be OK with that.

This one was a HUGE mistake. Porsche 914. Was a non running jammed in a back corner of a garage car. Guy was an acquaintance of a good friend of mine. He either lied, or was clueless as to what he had (its condition). We could not really inspect the car properly until we got it out of the garage, and once out, it wasn't going back in the garage (had to yank it out, tires flat, brakes frozen etc). Took it for $500, with the plan to get it running and sell it. Started, and realized, oh no, while the all the body panels looked great, the "longs" were completely rusted out (frame), and would not be safe to be resold as a running car. I had to re bodied the car (lot of work). Wound up nice, but was sure happy to see it go.

Bright side, there are at least 50, other cars we have acquired that we are or were happy with.
What year is your M2? I'm looking for my next DD and the G87 M2 is on my list. When they first came out I wasn't sure I liked the looks. Seeing how they looked lowered a bit, front lip added, and wheel spacers or different wheels they grew on me.

2021 so its an F87 (but its the CS version). I understand your ambivalence on the looks of the G87 (or the G80/2 M3/4's), but no arguing that, looking past the aesthetics, they are all great driving cars.

I definitely regret buying my wife's Traverse. Biggest hunk of shit we've ever owned.

At about 60k it started falling apart. It seemed like every time I had to fix something other stuff got broken along the way.

The brake rotors warped before the first oil change. Neither my wife or I ride brakes but the dealer just blamed us.

The belt tensioner took a complete shit at around 60k. Total nightmare to replace going through the passenger fender well.

I had to replace a power steering line that is so common I couldn't find one at the time. Because of the way the lines are routed I don't think I ever got all the air out.

The nail in the coffin was the AC basically ate itself and sent metal into the system. Everything had to be replaced, both front and rear systems and lines. Most shops wouldn't touch it and the dealer wanted $7500-8k.

All these problems are super common and the ****ed part is GM has known about them for years and refuses to do a damn thing about it. First and last GM vehicle I'll buy minus a C5.

2014 Ford Focus with the (DCT) Dual Clutch Transmission. Bought for our son in 16 as his first car. I had heard of shifting issues on some and drove it pretty hard testing the trans. Little did I know that it actually performed better when driving it like a banshee. Of course, a year or two later the big cover up within ford was found, class action lawsuits, etc etc.

Had 29k miles on it when we got it. First clutch set replaced under warranty at 39k. Next one under warranty at 61k. Next one under warranty at 85k. Next out of warranty at 105k. We just weren't ready to trade at the time and kind of had a feel for how long it was going to last.

Waited on a clutch set for over 3 months, and Ford actually provided a loaner for over 3 months and I think 4000+ miles.

Our son and our daughter both learned to drive on it, and was an otherwise pretty good little car, but man, that trans was an absolute fiasco.

I regret my zr2 silverado, although it is a fine truck. Expensive for what it is. I should have sucked it up and got a Raptor.

Friend of mine had one of those. Ford bought it back for basically what he paid for it originally. He took the money and bought a Dodge 2500.

I had $2200 in it on the one clutch I replaced (rest were under warranty) and put over 70,000 miles on it so I guess it wasn't that bad.

But, you always knew the clutch was coming and it would only last 20-40k miles. I was never so glad to see a car go.

Bad thing is, I really wanted to make it my daily once we got our daughter something else to drive.

Oh well, I'll keep putting along in my 96 Geo Metro with 260k on it lol.

Yes.

My ex (wife at the time) wanted a VW bug. She didn't even have her driver's license. I bought a '67 and put a Hurst shifter in it. She drove it twice. Couldn't get her to get her license. Sold it a year later. At least I didn't lose money on it.

How much did you get for the wife?

Ha ha, initially, I lost big. But over time the un-investment has paid off big time.

Yeah I bought a 2010 RAV4 a few years back. Wouldn't buy a 2006-2012 model year ever again. Glad it was totaled by a deer on my way to Arizona a few years back. I never could come to grow fond of that vehicle.

I'm just miffed at the price and the cost to insure them.
My insurance has TRIPLED on my 2017 Focus RS this year!

All my other vehicles and house are covered thru USAA too. All the other vehicles have no change in fees and has come down some… except for the RS….
I called them asking why the insane price and could not get a straight answer.

I’ve been with USAA for more than 20 years!!!

I guess I’m going to have to start shopping around for new insurance company….

Been with USAA for 35 years. Probably time for a change. GR Corolla was more expensive than the C8 and that was before an $18.5K claim. I doubt my coverage will get cheaper with them.
