2021(?) GLC63 AMG. Due to the shortages it came with the standard gauges, not the digital. That in itself didn't kill the deal but it impacted other tech features. Made the car kinda meh. The engine, 4.0 v8 twin turbo, was awesome! That with the all wheel drive made the thing scream and sounded great.
First, the steering geometry made the performance tires "bang" at tighter steering situations. Scared the shit out of my wife (I bought it for her). So I had to buy all season tires on a new car.
Second, the electronics in the power train would glitch resulting in alarms, flashing lights and disabling of cruise control and safety features. Turn the car off and restart? All clear. No fault codes. Difficult to fix what isn't there. Did this multiple times. This pissed the wife off, which I agree.
Oil changes are stupid, needed to suck the oil out and the top mounted cartridge filter. Stupid.
Third, the transmission(?)was leaking oil at the bell housing.
At 6,000 mile we traded it. Got $2k less than we paid for it, which was $82k.

We are done with mercedes.

Nope. Have had pretty good luck with my choices. Lost one to a theft and two that were totaled in accidents that weren't my fault but otherwise all were reliable rides.

For a short time, I regretted buying my second Roush. But it wasn’t the car, that was the issue. I had to put my little buddy, Tom, to sleep, about 5 hours after I got the car. So, for about two years every time I looked at the car; it was a reminder of what else happened on that day. It isn’t an issue anymore, thankfully. I’ve even been stockpiling some parts for her; as I’ve been wanting to do the upgrades all at once.

She has a 2020 blazer that's turning into a real turd. It's maxed my troubleshooting ability so I can only assume it's software problems and I haven't a clue what to do with that. Take it to the dealer?

I’d say the only vehicle I regret buying would be my F250. When I was in the market for a truck I really didn’t want a diesel due to me not towing a lot for long distance. Mostly short distance to the track, or buddies broken down. So I got a gasser, hands down the biggest headache I’ve ever had. That 5.4L Triton is the closest thing to Satan ever.

And in a big ass truck like a super duty the 5.4 is an absolute dog. Buddy has one in fire engine red lol. That turd cannot get out of it's own way.

My regret was a Dream Car when I was 21 years old.
Local guy near me had a 1969 Camaro for sale, claiming it was a Rally Sport.
I jumped to buy it for $3,500 back in 1993.
Red Flags first day - Bought it near dark, never drove it. Lights didn't work on the way home. Head light doors didn't work. Engine was a 327 with Powerglide and it was very weak.
Long story short - Camshaft lobe went flat within a month, body was full of bondo (magnet would barely stick to any surface), trunk floor was rotted out, and I found out it was originally a column shift all green car. When I bought it was black interior with a console.
I put a cam in it from Super Shops, got wiring fixed and sold it because I was low on money for only $1,500 and watched it drive away. Was sad and happy at the same time.
If I knew what i know today, I would never have bought it. I can do mechanical things but I'm not a paint/body guy by any means.
This is a picture when I had the engine out.

So I had this brilliant idea in late 2016 to buy a 08 focus for a DD since my company has a job that was far I thought ok great I'll save on gas money. Well after almost dying in a wreck when a semi pinched me against the Jersey barrier on the BQE I decided never again on a car that small.

BQE-traveled it recently. 40 years ago the only thing that was suitable to use on that God forsaken road would’ve been a pogo stick. What a miserable road. Glad you survived. The BQE and the car you were driving are both death traps.

I racked my brain to cover 55+ years of owning a long list of cars and SUVs, but can't think of any that I wished I hadn't bought. Well, maybe except one. My 2022 Genesis GV70. That was an impulse purchase. I did enjoy it for the 12 months I owned it, but I just preferred a performance sedan, so I traded it in on my current 2023 Genesis G70. That was my one and only impulse buy.

In my lifetime to date, I’ve owned almost 50 cars. A bunch of them were when I was a young guy buying and selling and trading up, and I was reading this thread today thinking I don’t remember ever regretting the purchase of any one of them. That list includes convertible Fiats, Triumphs, an Alfa Romeo and even a Lancia coupe. Those were the type of cars I was into then. Then I remembered the 1998 Ford Explorer I bought from my brother-in-law in 2005. Just figured I needed a grocery getter type vehicle and I told him I’d pay him whatever the dealer offered him on a trade, so I got a good deal. Nothing but a nightmare- air conditioning system, transmission rebuild, I think the list goes on and on but I’ve tried hard to forget it.
During a rare moment when everything was working properly, I sold it privately. It was a beautiful looking fully loaded vehicle but underneath that beauty lurked a monster.

2 sort of. Had an F80 BMW M3 that was a DD, traded for a new M2 CS, that I really never drive, not sure why, great car (maybe Im trying to keep miles off it?). 2008 GT500 (bought new), with the other cars / mustangs we have, I find I have to force myself to drive it. Both I probably won't sell, but if I had not bought both I would be OK with that.

This one was a HUGE mistake. Porsche 914. Was a non running jammed in a back corner of a garage car. Guy was an acquaintance of a good friend of mine. He either lied, or was clueless as to what he had (its condition). We could not really inspect the car properly until we got it out of the garage, and once out, it wasn't going back in the garage (had to yank it out, tires flat, brakes frozen etc). Took it for $500, with the plan to get it running and sell it. Started, and realized, oh no, while the all the body panels looked great, the "longs" were completely rusted out (frame), and would not be safe to be resold as a running car. I had to re bodied the car (lot of work). Wound up nice, but was sure happy to see it go.

Bright side, there are at least 50, other cars we have acquired that we are or were happy with.
