My car has 170k miles on it now and i'm wanting to add more power. I was looking at an l&m shortblock or just getting getting a gen 2 complete engine. When getting a shortblock, do they take my heads and cam etc. off of my engine and just apply it to the new shortblock? Also with the gen 2, would they only have to swap cams if anything? I'm pretty green to that whole process. Goals would be around 800-1000hp

gen 1 heads fit gen 2 short block. gen 1 cams would stay in it unless you want to buy after market. L&M may be what you want for 800-1000 whp. Gen 2 could maybe do that but it will be highly recommended that you get OPGs and crank sprocket. I dont know how long a gen 2 would last at over 800 whp. I have a friend that bent a rod on his 17, OPGs, CS, cams, vortech. power was estimated to be in the low 800 wheel. it lasted maybe 4000 miles. Not sure how revving it out even higher with the cams helped the rod situation.
