Correct it’s a VMP Gen 2 (non-R). I ended up buying SCGallo2’s Gen 2 whipple 2.9 and it’s currently en-route. Thank you Gallo for all the photos/details/information on install, fair price, and quick shipping. This will be my first twin screw but I’m excited to experience the different power band, for better or worse. The Gen 2 was definitely quick but kinda felt like it was running out of steam up top. Not an issue for the 2.65L’s I hear. Sounds like a challenging install compared to VMP but if I’m gonna try a twin screw might as well be now. Thanks for all the comments everyone - very glad it’s “just” a blower here too! Anyone know any top notch Shelby tuners in Houston? I’ve been using VMP and had good experience but now that I’ll be outside their TVS wheelhouse I’m thinking it’s time to do a proper dyno tune. Gallo mentioned the Gen 2 2.9 has some cold start drivability issues that a local tuner will have to tune out (Lund wasn’t able to). I’ve had some clutch work done at kinetik and had great experience, just not sure if tuning is their forte or not. May very well be. I’m on the east side of town. Also curious if I’ll absolutely need a wide band for a good tune or not. Granted with money being tight, I had just bought the VMP custom tune and just about had it dialed in option before all this happened. Has anyone had them tune a twin screw? Seems like an obviously bad idea but just putting it out there.
