The land of commies and socialists!
Hmmm, is @COBRA_ESQ's post being missed? It's a fact. The factory (convertible) MID-LENGTH subframe connectors are pretty much useless, AND they're the lowest contact point in your Cobra. It makes zero sense to keep the factory subframe connectors. Replace them with a welded-in FULL-LENGTH set that actually do stiffen the chassis. They will eliminate many creaks and groans as well as.

DO IT! (y) This first mod (needed regardless) might just eliminate your need to upgrade your springs or do coil-overs.
I wonder if the stifflers system would be a good idea for a vert?

i drive my 03 cobra on H&R sport springs, the ride quality is pretty bad. It does handles any corner great and it also launches from a stop pretty good.

i can recommend a lowering spring with a pretty good, almost great, ride quality. i installed them on a 2002 Pontiac GTP coupe. even re-used the same shocks. the springs i removed from the Pontiac were Eibach Pro-kit.

the brand is Vogtland German lowering springs. 03-04 cobra.

its great for a vert. night and day difference when i put it on mine.

i havent driven with the top down or put any real miles on it yet but in the 35-40 miles ive put on it in the past 2 years it was a very big improvement.

Going from H&R's to MM coil over setup was a game changer for my car. Also, something to consider, I also have Koni yellows. It's my opionion that Bilsteins cannot handle the spring rates / bottom out when lowered. I'm sure someone will call me crazy...and they would be right! (lol)...but a Koni yellow / MM coild over setup and I never have any issues here in VA, or anywhere else I travel...and the car has the the "stance" for sure! Lastly, I do have a Stifflers "Fit" subframe setup, which I believe also matters with letting the suspension do what it is supposed to.

Following this. I have the H&Rs and some Tokico adjustables and they suck. Bottom out under heavy braking, teeth jarring on some bigger bumps in the road. Terrible.

Am looking for a nice road going spring and shock/coilover.

Which set do you have? The Sports sit lower and from what I've heard don't ride all that great. The Race springs don't lower the car as much and ride pretty good IMO.

Those would be the sports.
Copy thanks. So if that’s true, mine are the sports and sit low and don’t ride as well as the race springs, why the heck wouldn’t H&R flip the names? These springs aren’t floaty on the road, but they certainly aren’t stiff. They just bottom out easily because they’re so low and I’m on 18s.

Also, I have Tokico adjustables on the car and the adjustment screw on top of the fronts doesn’t seem to work well. I attempted to count how many rotations it had and after backing it counterclockwise i had a thread or two left and stopped. It felt like it was going to come right out.

Wondering if bilsetins and a set of these “race” springs is what I’m looking for? Car is an occasional cruiser with one longer trip per year (300ish miles)

How old are the Tokicos?
You should still be able to source new adjustment screws. I haven’t seen those in a while but the dampers worked well for me. They may be rebuildable too.
Either way I’d call Maximum Motorsports, Steeda or a place guys here recommend and get a matching set of springs and shocks/struts for you goals. Coilovers if budget allows usually get best results but for your goals either will work well.

With Tokico D specs, you should always thread the adjustment in as far as possible, then count 7 or 8 turns out. That is it.

I run the D specs and I find them to have very good adjustment.

Do you have the race on yours? I’m still researching this and the race ones claim to lower the front 1.6”, same as the sport.

I was leaning towards the MM Bilstein coilover set but it’s almost 2g’s…

I live in Charleston, had the H&R Race and MM Iso's and never had an issue.

I did when I bought the car. I removed them for the maximum coilovers.

What shocks did you do, Bilsteins? And was it really worth the astronomical price?
Yes on the Bilsteins. I had the rears rebuilt to the HD specs.

It was for me. I wanted the height adjustability. I'm a little lower than the race springs and ride just as good. The handling is better too IMO.

What’s the adjustability like? I’m looking to go higher than the race springs. If they are a 1.6 drop I’d like to do ~1-ish. Do they have a minimum/maximum drop?

I’m typing as I’m thinking. I guess what I really need to do is get a front and rear weight, call MM, and tell them what I’m looking for.
