Had a “New Washer Recommendation” thread back in August.

Went with a Speed Queen. Cost a little more than I wanted, but it’s simple, quick, and is supposed to last a while.

So that’s nice.

Today, my less than 5 year old Electrolux dryer took a shit.

Good thing I just bought a new TV Friday.

I think all new appliances are pretty much shit. For washers and dryers, I just go to a place that refurbishes old Kenmores and whrilpools from the 90's. They cost $400-500 a pair and last forever again. My clothes don't mildue either.

True story

My parents had appliances that lasted 30 damn years and more

Ive had to replace more in the last ten years than my parents did in 54 years togethet

My wife purchased a front loader Samsung HE washer and dryer like 7 years ago.
I've been really watching this efficiency washer the last week or so. I'm over it.
This thing sprays your clothes with water than just tumbles around for 45 min and it does not fill with hot water at all.

Its a pos

Dryers are easy to fix. If it’s not drying it’s the heat element. If it won’t turn on it could be a temperature sensor. There a YouTube how to vids, the parts are cheap on Amazon.

Nowadays you generally expect most goods to be throwaway. Some of the higher end brands still make quality, long lasting items but those are rare.

We have the front loading Samsung washer and dryer. Going on year 5 with no issues yet. They were not cheap. The washer does clean well. No different that the old school washer we had before. They are allegedly more "energy efficient" and we even got a rebate for buying them. Did I see a drop in our electric bill? Not so that you would notice. But it is just the wife and me, so it is not like we do tons of laundry.
I agree that modern appliances are made to fail. The stuff my parents bought in the 50's damn near lasted forever. My dad was a Machinist his entire career. He pretty much said that same thing about the mills and lathes ect. That old school stuff was built to last, and was often better quality after 30-40 years than the new equipment that the shop would buy.

Washers and dryers are all crap, but thankfully are simple machines that can be repaired/rebuilt DIY for pretty cheap. I've rebuilt my Samsung washer/dryer too many times over the past 12 years.

OP has AIDs for making a stupid thread.

Ironically, this buttfagg was closest to actual issue.

9 screws and half dozen connectors to expose entire drum and everything else.

World okay now.

Still stand by AIDS for Electrolux.

Actually all appliances are like that anymore.

Whirlpool top load washer and dryers are the cream of the crop.

Samsung is nothing but issues with the electronics.
