So the TVS EGR block off plate is actually the large EGR adapter without the hole drilled through the center. I understand why they do that to save the end user cost but for someone like me who's picky about how it looks its less than pleasing.

Here's what it looks like installed.

So I picked up a standard compact billet aluminum block off plate. Look at the difference between the two. Also notice the curve on the TVS block to match the curve on the blower.

Here you can see I curved the billet piece to match the TVS block

The fit was pretty good

Next I sprayed it with high temp paint and textured it to match the finish on the TVS so it looks factory.

Excellent job. Im thinking of upgrading from my gen1 to the gen2. Not sure how much improvement it would be tho. If i do i will do something like this as well. Did you get the low vacuum bypass with the tvs?

No I ended up getting the low pressure bypass valve actuator from Whipple. I'm a dealer and reseller for both Whipple and VMP and the Whipple low pressure bypass valves are much cheaper. Both the Whipples and TVS use the OEM style bypass valve like the Eaton had on it so they're interchangeable.

Where did you pick up the replacement plate from?

I found it on eBay but it was made by this company http://www.ictbillet.com/ and was only $8.95 shipped.

Any reason why you want to make the change? I believe the only changes are the IAC mounting on the Gen 2 inlet, Adding EGR to the Gen 2, and then running the bypass valve through the intercooler.

You can add a gen 2 inlet to a gen 1 blower, you're not using EGR, so the only other benefit is the bypass air through the intercooler.

If you consider that a benefit :) I opted not to install that piece for two reasons. When the bypass valve is open and the air is recirculating around the rotors and valve in a circle and now you force that air through the intecooler which I'm cooling down with the a/c you're now cooling the blower casing and rotors and not just the air intake charge. That puts a never ending load on the a/c in normal driving. There's no shortage of heat that's soaking into the blower from the motor so the a/c will be taxed non stop.

But more importantly to me is that the adapter that forces air into the bypass valve in normal driving also blocks off about 1/4 of the intercooler's surface area in WOT. That's just a restriction I wasn't willing to do. Maybe it doesn't matter but without doing some back to back tests and swapping the part in and out we'd never know. I already went to great lenghts of opening up the motor as much as possible including ported heads and cams etc. and didn't want to risk chocking down WOT with only 3/4 of the intercooler surface area to blow through.

Just my take anyways. I wish it wasn't such a pain to access that block off plate as it'd be fun testing with and without and comparing differences and temps in normal driving and WOT output affect if any.

Malcolm- Clean work as always.

Thanks Mike!

I thought it was to help keep iat2 temps down so i figured why not. Noticed others making the change from the gen1 also so i figured it must be helping. Not discussion on that S plate to begin with. The whole reasoning is for the S plate not egr or iac mount
