Im new to the whole handheld tuner thing. I noticed that when I take my car to the track, the very first pass is always like 5-7 mph faster than the rest. That leads me to my first question- does the stock tune pull a ton oftiming when you are beating on.the car fairly hard? And 2) Will a handheld tuner fix this? I want my car to be more consistent at the track.

How long are you letting the car cool down between runs? Usually a car slowing down is a sign of heat soak. The computer pulls timing either for a hot engine, hot air charge, or detonation. If a tune is done properly then the timing will still be pulled for any of these conditions.

Usually I let it cool for an hour between runs. I will try icing the intake in the spring and see if that helps

Get some datalogs of your runs. Watch all the temps. That should tell you what's going on.
