I did an RX7, 240SX, '96 GT and 350Z all in mid western lake effect snow.

Snow tires are a must and make an night and day difference.

Working LSD is also a must.

Lastly, I finally wised up and got a 4X4 truck and eventually a Tacoma daily. Screw snow, rust and dealing with ground clearance.

If I slide into a curb, no biggy.

If I have to jump off road go avoids a pile up, so what, I'm good.

I drove a 92 5.0 LX as a winter car in South Dakota for years. Have a different set of wheels and tires for the winter and counter steer like your life depends on it... because it does.

I drove my Cobra in Chicago winters for years as it was my only car. Never got stuck or spun out. Slow and steady when it's bad and you'll be fine. Getting up some hills was a PITA though when conditions were bad.

I ended up getting a DD and got drag radials since the Cobra was a weekend only car at that point. One nice snowy morning my DD wouldn't start and had to drive in the snow on drag radials. Good thing I only need to go a few miles and it wasn't that bad out.

I drove my 2014 GT500 home from Toledo in a snow storm, 6 hours with the stock POS tires. I managed not to wreck. I guess it's about not driving above the limits of the road and car. I had to get home due to work, so waiting out the storm was a no-go. It was hairy, but I did well.

Lots of idiot drivers... Used my 2002 in the winter for 4 years, never had an issue even in covered roads. Crown vic, never a problem. Had a lowered GT without any snow tires, never an issue.

Lesson: Learn how to drive. dumbasses.

Toss on a set of good snow tires/A/S and Mustang is fine in the snow. Run summer rubber on any car and it's not going to end well. I bet most of those were people trying to use the brakes. You need a good tire to stop a car.

For years my winter beater was a rear wheel drive Lincoln town car.

I threw on four studded snows, put two cinder blocks and two fifty pound bags of salt in the trunk, and a small snow shovel.

I never got stuck once, the car was an absolute tank in the snow.

Rear wheel drive in the winter, it can be done.

Yep. I've driven various Mustangs through the snow/winter with snow tires and a couple sandbags in the trunk. Snow tires + common sense = no issues
