I have some tires from 2007 that I acquired from CL. Been trying to run them for a year and have yet to get lower than a 2.0 60'. They are 275/40/17 mounted on 17x8 GT wheels. Best I've gotten has been 2.007 with all my mods. Bone stock I went 2.053 on 285/30/20 NT555 (street tires).

They are not yet down to the wear bars. I do a 2nd gear burn out until I see a good bit of smoke.

I'm trying to decide if its worth buying a new set for ~$400 in hopes of getting a 1.8 60'.

Tires do get old, but I wouldn't get new 275's and put it on 8" wheels. I had BFG 275/40/17 Back in 97 on a 97 Cobra. They never worked well until I put them on a 9" wheel.

Hmm, that's helpful info. Thank you
You're welcome. You'll probably want tires vs. tires and rims. I've seen a 245/45/17 Drag Radial but can't for the life of me remember What brand it was(found it M&H). Better fit for an 8 inch wheel. Also always heard the 555 nitto DR's ran smaller, 275/40 Nitto 555R may "fit" an 8.
