Need some help. I plan to swap my supercharger in about 10 days for a vmp 2.3L. My car is all stock, 19 k miles.
I wont be drag racing the car, mostly street driving and i dont drive the car much. A few hard pulls here and there on open roads.
1. How long will the stock clutch last, will it hold the power upgrade.
2. Stock spline input shaft or upgrade right away? Anybody have the original input shaft With an upgraded blower?
3. Do I need to upgrade the heat exchanger or will the stock one be just fine for what im using it for.

If i do beed to change to 26 spline the. Of course would make sense to do the cooling mod, clutch, spline work all at once while the trans is out.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Simply put No. Especially if you're not hitting the strip on drag radials. If you have the time and money sure you can upgrade but honestly for an essential weekend cruiser with some WOT blasts it's not needed.

My stock clutch did some slipping on the dyno when I was in the 540's for power. It was different on the street because the tires would spin instead. Plus I wasn't doing 4th gear pulls from 40mph.

As stated, the input shaft is not necessary for the average street driven car. It does, however, provide some peace of mind even if you don't do long smoky burnouts and launch the car. Like you said, just do it all when the trans is out.

Personally, I'd do the heat exchanger sooner rather than later. It's relatively cheap and it's easy to install. Not mention it looks cool while serving a purpose. ha Given your location, any additional cooling capacity certainly won't hurt.

Thanks for the input guys. I guess ill do the heat exchanger and see how things go. When i decide to change the clutch ill do the rest.
Besides the 26 spline input shaft anything else in there I should change?

Flywheel clutch and input shaft and call it a day

When it's out might as well do the bearing retainer too, couldn't hurt and not a big dollar item when you're doing the rest. Expensive in labor to do it alone.

FWIW I twisted a 10 spine TKO500 input shaft with 450hp/tq never saw the track, just street and DR's (granted I was young so you know I was being a dick). Better safe than sorry if the budget allows.

I think I broke 3 of them before I finally went with a 26 spline shaft. This is at 600 rwhp and street tires. I would definitely go with the 26 spline ASAP.

When I upgraded to a 2.9 Whipple, changes the clutch to a twin disk and also switched to a 26 spline. I didn’t want to be stranded anywhere unnecessarily. You upgrade the power level and something else in the drive train needs to be upgraded well. Just how it goes. I’m at 701rwhp
