I mean it's nice to see they're still working, but that emissions testing means any tuning is going to be severely neutered. What will be interesting to see is if greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) will be a regulated emission when it comes to tuning as well, or if the EPA will be more lax with that. Previously they didn't care too much as long as the other regulated emissions were within spec. Now that they're moving to include GHG, that could make it even tougher. Look at Ford even having to shave 10hp off the Mustang GT to meet it. ...for now. I've taken the EPA defeat device training. Just about anything is a defeat device as long as it modifies how the engine operates. They really are not messing around after the whole VW scandal. As early as the 70s they had "tamper proof" carbs. Even my string trimmer's carb was tamper proof so that no one could smash the cap they shoved in there to cover the idle adjustment screws, then slot the screws with a dremel so you could break them free from their pinning and adjust it. Boy, it's a good thing too. Someone might actually make it run properly and inadvertently increase emissions!
