Good on them to make the investments needed to keep performance tuning alive for the foreseeable future.

Unfortunately only the big dogs will have the funds to make these investments. I'm sure a lot of smaller performance shops are very worried about their futures.
Yep, the big guys don't mind government control as they have the funds to comply. It also insures that their would be competition can never afford to compete on the same playing field. Can't wait for $2-3000 tunes.

You don't have to wait. Have you priced out certain GM tunes lately?

I mean it's nice to see they're still working, but that emissions testing means any tuning is going to be severely neutered.
What will be interesting to see is if greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) will be a regulated emission when it comes to tuning as well, or if the EPA will be more lax with that. Previously they didn't care too much as long as the other regulated emissions were within spec. Now that they're moving to include GHG, that could make it even tougher. Look at Ford even having to shave 10hp off the Mustang GT to meet it.
It will be big dawg only club for stock ECU tuning, absolutely.

Then you will have the big dawg/boutique aftermarket ECU options since they're not considered as "defeating" emissions devices.

...for now.

You may want to rethink your "defeat device" definition.

I've taken the EPA defeat device training. Just about anything is a defeat device as long as it modifies how the engine operates. They really are not messing around after the whole VW scandal.

What 'off-road exemption' are you talking about? Is a screw driver a defeat device? Check out this FAQ:

As early as the 70s they had "tamper proof" carbs. Even my string trimmer's carb was tamper proof so that no one could smash the cap they shoved in there to cover the idle adjustment screws, then slot the screws with a dremel so you could break them free from their pinning and adjust it. Boy, it's a good thing too. Someone might actually make it run properly and inadvertently increase emissions!

What does that mean exactly? Like the THC content can only be so high? Or does that mean if it says 20% THC ur just verifying that the customer is actually getting the 20%?

One of our businesses is Cannabis testing to make sure that what is sold to the public is within the legal limits. The regulations set in place for this seem to be nearly as strict as those...lol

There is a legal limit that can be sold legally. If you need something stronger then you have to meet Mookie on the corner. If anything tests too strong, then it must be tagged and locked in a safe. Then the feds come and pick it up.
