So the track is responsible for putting fires out on peoples cars? Where in the contract does it say that? I would think if my car started on fire at the track or anywhere else that it would be MY responsibility to put it out. Step one is to pop the hood. If I don't at least do that then I guess the car is going to burn down. Sheesh.

THIS! The track staff are not trained firefighters, have no protective gear and are under no legal oibligation to save your car. I certainly would not be throwing up the hood on an engine fire on someone elses car, wearing flip flops and shorts, for the $10/hr these guys are making.

I get the distinct impression form the video that the owner doesn't give 2 shits about the car and cares more about looking like a fool in front of everyone at the track. $10 says he was at the dealer Monday morning trying to get it fixed under warranty.....lol!

Had an Audi A5 in where the little rod that runs through the shifter broke, and it allows the shifter to move through the gears after depressing the button. So it was locked out of reverse and park and stuck in neutral and I could be popped into drive. While it was in neutral it could be turned on and off. He just needed to go to neutral to turn the car off and then pop the hood for the crew. I agree that the guy was a douche and did nothing to help save his car. The crew has no obligation to put themselves at risk of being burned if the owner won't cooperate with them. Everyone knows there is a possibility of flames erupting once that hood is opened so if the owner isn't going to do anything to help you get it under control before opening the hood then the fault is his imo. If someone was cussing me out while I'm trying to help them then I would likely walk away and let them deal with it on their own.

The driver was an idiot. Instead of arguing he should have got out of his car, popped the hood and put the fire out.

Can't fix stupid and alot of it in that video there.

Cars are keyless ignition. You have to hold the power button for five seconds to shut if off in D.

Tried it myself, confirmed it works.

Nice. I didn't know that as the 2019 is my first keyless ignition vehicle.

Maybe the Demon owner couldn't put in the car park then hit the Start/Stop button? Seems weird. Either way, I think the track officials did wrong from what I see/hear in the video.

When we moved to Ann Arbor a couple of years ago, I was really excited to go to Milan, as it was a track I’d always heard about, even all the way on the West Coast growing up in California.

Took my wife. Went once and never went back. Some scary patrons with questionable number(s) of chromosomes.

Nah it wouldn't be my car because I wouldn't be insulting the people trying to help me and acting like a doucher.

Demon owner seemed to act like an ass. If he couldn’t turn off the car because of some malfunction then ok...but why the hell didn’t he pop the hood immediately?

And if keyless cars can’t be shutoff in a case like this the owners should have to install a manual shutoff switch before racing.

Track workers weren’t heroes by any stretch but honestly their job is to keep the driver safe, not risk their lives to save a burning car. I find it odd they didn’t have better safety gear / fire protection though. At least long gloves to allow them to open the hood latch once it is popped.

Maybe if the driver wasn’t trying hard to be a dick I’d feel bad for him. Where was HIS extinguisher?
