i remember when I was looking for a cobra . When I ask question about the cobra on Facebook . Most answer are, “ look like this cobra has been beat on “ stay away “

I try to keep my cobra mint as possible , from time to time I do drive the hell out off it ( just to make sure the tune still work ) and once in blue moon I do a racing with friends . I never take mine to red line . 5500 rpm is max I ever go

Is what I’m doing normal ? Or consider as hard drive owner that beat on the cobra .

Huge red flag for any real Cobra owner...no wide-band. If you see a pullied Cobra without a wide-band, it’s been beat on.

Bald rear tires, it’s been beat on. A BAMA tunes Cobra, it’s been beat on. An owner that seems to know nothing about the car, that scares me, depending on how the conversation goes with them, could possibly make a person believe it’s been beat on.

You can usually tell just by talking to someone about their car if it’s been beat on. An owner who understands how heat soak can kill these cars, bad tunes can kill these cars and crappy fuel system setups pushed to the edge can kill these cars is what a person should look for when looking at a Cobra. All too often I have read on here ‘’how far can I push the stock fuel pump with X amount of boost?” “Are these 180 dollar eBay injectors any good?”, and come to find out this same person is probably pushing the stock blower over the edge with a smaller lower and the smallest pulley they can squeeze on the blower itself.

Any Cobra owner will take their car out on a spirited drive here and there. Nothing wrong with that. My car was beat on, it I brought it back to life. It still has some problems, but she’s getting there!

A guy on YouTube, PJMorrison, he gives a pretty good example of what a ‘beat on’ Cobra is.

If you don’t put your foot in it every time you drive it it’s a waste. Just no dirt roads Lol

running the car hard is not beating on it, keeping it to only 5500 is a freaking waste and tunes dont go bad (and if the tune somehow did and you go WOT you'd only know it when a rod exits the block).

When a car has been beat on could encompass a number of things. If you've seen a car in person there might be a lot of very minor damage (small scratches, broken/stained trim panels, obvious fluid leaks, filthy engine bay etc...). Outside of that people are gonna look at mods, a car with a roll bar and solid axle has probably been driven hard a LOT.

This is where I was going. Most people think beat on only means abusive style driving. However, I agree with you that neglect can be a form of beat on as well.

Truth right here! If the owner of the vehicle could not afford, or was unwilling to repair minor issues, you really have to question the maintenance of the more important aspects of the vehicle.

Good! He was the definition of beating on a Cobra! BAMA tunes without a wide-band.

I love to beat on my car, but my car can take it....now.

I wouldn't say no wideband is an automatic beat on car. My buddy had a wideband for datalogging purposes, but never put the display in his car. I know the tune was good because I tuned it.

For me beat on means driven hard, but never maintained. I drive my car hard. Boost is addictive. But I keep up on the oil and plugs. And usually when I get home I pop the hood and look for anything abnormal. So I drive it hard, but I keep up on it.

I have to agree with this.

Too many times people see something or do not see something and make an "assumption."

My car is a perfect example. I have a Nitrous system installed on my car. I sprayed it twice and have never used it again. However, I think it looks cool. So, I keep it on my car. Electrical is not hooked up so, it doesn't even work.

I guarantee you if I try to sell my car as is the perspective buyer would assume my car was beat on. They would be wrong.

That's a pretty good description of "being beat on".
I just bought my first Cobra a few months ago ( a SB vert with almost 90k)- it's been pullied, a CAI, and that's it.stock exhaust...etc.
    I'm the third owner.
First guy had it for 9 years and the second guy had it for 7 years.
First guy documented all of his service and the second guy traded it into a Subaru dealer for an SUV to cart his grandkids around.
The car is a nice driver with a clean Carfax.
It has wear, but it's never been beat. That's why, even though it has those miles- I bought it.
I looked at cars that were $10k more with 20,000 miles that had been BEAT. 4,5,6 owners....Engines made a lot of noise.
My car is as quiet as my '16 Expedition. One thing to remember ( in my recent experience with the help of Cobra owning friends)- a lot of these cars are modded and driven very hard, then put back to stock for resale.
You have to look DEEP to know the difference.
    Cheers to all!

When you guys say no wideband, do you mean the person doesn't have a wideband on their car, or they have a car that's been modded (i.e. pulley) and no dyno readout with A/F ratio?

I don't see why someone would have a wideband unless they're tuning their car. I have a Zeitronix but that's because I use a PRP to tune and it's not mounted in the car. I use it with my laptop and software when tuning and afterwards, it goes back in the box.

Uh WRONG! Apparently you did not read or understand my post.

I sprayed it TWICE. So it was used. Nothing ghost about it.

It runs great. No stupid tunes to make it sound like something it's not.

And I could reinstall my RPM activator switch but I choose not.
