I'm thinking of purchasing black lense covers for my 99 cobra. I need to know if there is a way that I could turn off my daytime lams for good. I checked to see if there was a separate fuse but no luck.

If I unplug them at the light, wont that turn of the entire lamp. I dont know anyone else around here with a 99 so I have no idea if it is a common thing.

You mean your main headlamps are on all the time?

That would suck. My 99 is not like that; maybe it is a cali-only thing.

If you aren't the original owner, maybe the previous owner screwed around with the wiring to do that.

Doom on the canadians.

dicks 99 cobra, there is a module in the bumper that controls the DRL. Unpugging it would appear to do the trick.

Here is a pic of hte module:

From the 99 Tech CD:
Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)

The daytime running lamp (DRL) system consists of a daytime running lamp module and bracket assembly (15A270). The module is located on the front bumper reinforcement.

Hey, where can I get one of those tech cds? Could come in handy.

Check out my post #24, or if you Shareaza or some other torrent-capable piece, go to Fordcds.com and download the torrents.

I can make you a copy for a couple of dollars to cover media and shipping.

Weird!! This is the first I've ever heard of DRL on a mustang. DRL's have to be the most pointless feature I have ever seen.

Daytime running lights and Automatic headlights were in the Ford Car accessory catalog for the 99-04 Mustang. The dealership could have installed them prior to selling the car to the first owner. I had both on my Cobra.
