Dashboard damaged

Looking for an opinion or maybe some suggestions. My dash has a decent gauge/crack on it from something hitting it. I have been looking around to just swap it out with a donor dash but didn't know if anyone had any experience getting their dash redone at an upholstery shop or just did it themselves. Not against the idea of upgrading the interior look a little if it's not outrageously expensive. Thanks

My daughter used them to fix a padded dash on a t-bird and I was surprised how well it turned out. Too bad shortly afterwards someone backing out of their driveway totaled the bird.
