Another point - you can't compare hardware. People love to do this with WW2 Tanks. Oh, a Tiger is the best, it has the most Armor. Oh a T34 is better because it's fast and cheap! Rarely did battles involve Tank on Tank and ever more rarely was that the deciding factor in the outcome. These are all tools within a greater strategy. Soviet/Russian Auto-Loader system in tanks for example. While we may argue the western 4 man crew is superior, for many developing nations with limited budget, the 3 man crew is more idea. This means 1 less educated and trained soldier per tank. 1 less mouth to feed, body to cloth and salary to pay. Over 30 tanks that means 30 less soldiers which quickly adds up when you are on a budget or have a very limited number of people capable of being technically trained. The F35 is designed for 360-Degree Stealth. It is to slowly penetrate enemy airspace and take out key objectives. The Russian Su-57 (Stealth) has nearly double the aerial performance capability including range, payload and speed. However, it's stealth cross section is predominantly frontal focused. It is not designed to be a penetration aircraft but rather a high-speed aerial dominance aircraft that's going to hit an enemy that's preparing to attack or in the process of attacking. Another focus is while the US has spent significant time perfecting aerial attacking and stealth - the Russians have put their money into Surface to Air defense systems. The S400 and S600 systems being considered the premier global systems. In fact the US had to cancel Turkey's orders for F35's when they agreed to buy S400's. Fear already existed the new system could potentially track F35's and Turkey (thus Russia) having access to both the system and flight data of F35s would essentially ensure the F35 would not have stealth protections at the very least against the more advanced S600 systems. So should the US be terrified of a pending Russian attack with SU-57, T14 Tanks, S600 and Hyper Sonic Missiles? Naw. Russia lacks a budget to put more then a few dozen of these into service. So by the US's mere numerical advantage we would win. But what this does ensure is that the US won't pull a England 1853 and try to bomb Санкт-Петербур (St Petersburg) over the Crimea - as such an event would leave us with a bloody nose. In fact, this is the primary motivation for countries to acquire nuclear weapons. When Iran becomes a nuclear power, they no longer have to fear a random fart in the wind will cause the US to dispose their government like Syria, Iraq or Libya.
