Rear H&R springs for irs cobras are linear, you can cut them without issues. I have the race springs with no iso’s and there’s a slight rake. There’s a two finger gap in the front, but about a three finger gap in the rear. I’ve never cut springs before and was wondering about how much I can cut just to make it level with the front?

Edit: I’ve been corrected. H&R are not linear like stock springs and should not be cut!

Houston Astros FTW!
Cutting springs is pretty ghetto. Honestly, you need to understand if those springs are progressive rate or not. If you cut your progressive springs, its going to ride like crap. Get some coil overs or coil over kits and do it differently, just my advice.

He just said they were linear.

Believe it was a full coil I did to level the Cobra from stock. So I would do a half coil and see where that takes you. That's just a guess and sure others will chime in.

The springs are NOT linear. I know some sites may list them as such. Head over to MMs site and they are listed correctly as progressive rate springs.

Lastly I just went digging through my shed to find a set of these very springs I have on a shelf. If they are linear they are the most progressive wound linear springs I've ever seen.

I can't remember if the rear springs go in a certain way. If not maybe you can try clocking them before cutting?

I had the race springs and remember the car sat fairly level. If you have isolators you can try removing them as well.

I've only cut stock springs and never went more than a coil.

Are we talking about the H&R race or sport springs?

iirc the race are progressive in the front and linear in the rear..

I cut all my stock springs 1.25 coils. Perfect. @Red Turtle, how much we do on the CO? IIRC, we did them twice.

We did 3/4 and then a full coil. You driving yours at all? It is a time capsule sitting in that garage.

No better stance than a properly cut stock spring that you can keep the isolator. They are linear springs vs. progressive rate and ride is virtually unchanged.

H&R race spring rates for IRS cobras
F:760-850 R:770. Don’t the single number mean it’s linear? And I got those numbers from svtp so I don’t know if those are the official numbers. Anyways I’ll try clocking them first and see if that makes a difference

My springs
Screen shot from MMs site
And another image showing linear vs progressive springs.

It's pretty obvious they are progressive springs. For anyone wondering the rear springs are actually the larger diameter ones on the left. But keep trusting what someone posted ages ago.

Going to re clock them and If that don’t work I guess I’ll have to buy some H&R sports. I guess Eibach doesn’t make sportlines for these cars anymore. I know those sit level.

I already have H&R race without any isolators. Someone already said their Race springs sit level, so mine must not be clocked right in the rear.
