So, I have had my Discover Card for 2 years now, and I love it.

I currently do not have any debt and or loans. I am trying to build my credit up and figured a second credit card would help. My credit score is currently a 788, and I am 25 years old. Every month I have always paid my bill before the due date.

Like I said, just trying to build my credit up and not waste time. I also have a full time job. I like to travel, so maybe that can help determine what card to get?

I applied for an AMEX and got denied because my income level was "too low".

So, what credit cards do you all have?

Amex but you said got denied
Chase Freedom
Penfed although my experience with them wasn't pleasant.

If you like to travel check out the airline cards like Delta.

Is there some higher score you are trying to achieve for some particular purpose? When I was in the car business a long time ago it seems that once folks were over 750 they got the best rates. But I wasn't an F&I guy.

Chase freedom. It's a killer card for no annual fee.

Once you have one for a while you can probably apply for a sapphire reserve. Hopefully you make enough but that's a killer travel card. It's expensive annually, but so far just in points its paid/benefits for at least 10 years of card fees. If you get tired of it Chase will allow you to downgrade to a freedom card which again, has no annual fee.

You need more credit is my guess. Just get a few cards or loans that report. You are missing nothing with Amex. They pulled most of the service and raised the fees. It Happens quick so don't sweat it. Most cards are trash and most banks are a joke. The days when a handshake could get things done are out the window.

Not for any particular reason. I have never had a loan before of any sort and I do not have any debt. I am just trying to get my credit as high as possible so when the day comes when I apply for a mortgage or loan I can get a good rate. Basically I don't want to waste time to build good credit I guess you can say? Just thinking for the long run I guess.

I have a Discover Card, a Chase Mastercard and a CitiBank Visa card. Line of credit between all of those are about 35K, give or take. The Citibank being the lowest as it was the last one I applied for because of the great advantages. Especially for no payment/no penalty for one year, which was years ago.
I have been approved for the AMEX, but never applied. They sent me applications in the mail. Those 3 cards are enough. The only thing I don't like about the Discover is the yearly fee.

have chase Freedom, Bank of America, and Discover. Everything pretty much goes on discover for the cash back, which I turn into giftcards. They have pretty good deals on those. $25 cost you $20, $50 for $40.

788 is right on the border of excellent, good job. I would recommend that you pull your total report and read it, it will help you understand what goes into making up your score.
Cherish your score and remain disciplined it helps a lot, except on SVTP since they are all ballers and don’t have any debt evah.

I usually only use 3, no annual fee on neither.

Amex Blue Cash for Grocery Shopping = 3% Cashback for Markets, no annual fee.

Sams Club Master Card = 5% Cashback on any basically any gas station

Citi Bank Double Cash Card = 1% Cashback for using it for anything and 1% cashback for paying it back. Mine is also a World Elite MasterCard so it has some nicer benefits than a regular Master Card.

For Traveling/Flying, I heard the Barclay Travel Card and Chase Saphire are some of the best.

Bp card for gas is mandatory IMO, 5% back on gas if you buy 20 gas when redeeming points.

Citi double cash is good for everyday as you get 2% back on everything

788 and denied? At least at my credit union 720 is the bar for lowest possible interest rate. I think mine was around 700 when discover gave me a limit of 20 and citi 25k. You're in great shape as is, I wouldn't suggest anymore hard pulls.

My advice is stick with only one CC. Your credit score is pretty good, especially for your age. You must have a decent amount of credit history to get that number at your age. Be careful on opening credit card accounts just to get more credit history. Next time you buy a car or furniture, finance some of it and it will slowly build. I'm no credit expert, but I think large purchases build it much more effectively than the small increments of a little BS credit card bill.

Bullshit aside, the Amazon card is great if you’re a member.

Amazon chase if you shop on Amazon I get 5% with that one, I get 5% on gas and groceries with the USAA AMEX, Get discounts and perks at Disneyworld with my Disney Chase.

I just had a guy use my Disney card, the only one I don't carry and rarely use. Guy was dumb enough to book a hotel with it, called the hotel then the cops and the guy ended up in jail, this just happened on Tuesday. Chase sent me a text about the charge immediately which tipped me off and gave me enough time to be able to at least get some sort of justice.

Don’t get another credit card. Start saving your money up and when the time comes buy cash only. Also make sure your 401k is maxed out.
