I appreciate it, but there are more deserving ones than me.

Yeah, they have to take a scalpel to it but only have a giant, dull knife. The underlying idea of the stimulus is to encourage spending, not take care of those who need it most because they were laid off. Can't say I agree with it, but I'm not sure there is another way to do it effectively and expeditiously.

On another note, the US just became the country with the most cases, surpassing China and Italy. We still have significantly fewer fatalities. Since we are now the epicenter, I can't wait for all of the countries we have helped in the past come to our aid in this time of need. I'm waiting with baited breath...LOL

The two state schools I went to both look like country clubs now.

Plenty of low skilled unemployed youth in inner city and rural areas all over the country that could fill those jobs.

The good thing is the money for unemployment was temporary and this 1200$ a person is going to help out too. Im having to straddle the middle on this one because I agree we needed the money, but think that it is excessive to an extent

I bet they do. It is ridiculous how much money campuses have spent on facilities, but most of the money for all the new buildings and spaces was raised, not funded by the government or tuition. The first campus I ever worked on was also the same school I went to for grad school, and the transformation was incredible. New student union, new football stadium on campus, new soccer stadium, new rec/wellness center, etc. The lion's share was from private funding...the President was a fundraising machine. What they didn't think about was the money needed for upkeep and maintaining these new spaces.

That's awfully fair of you. A lot of people would just say "gimme my money!" LOL

Pretty sure forcing people to do a job against their will is against the law in most states lol.

Exactly. Yet, people still do and some even brag about it. All it does is pass the cost on to everyone else.

According to Forbes, U.S. student debt is estimated at 1.56 trillion dollars. Can you imagine the fallout if these loans were able to be easily defaulted?

I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm simply advocating for personal responsibility and not blaming someone/something else. Of course, this applies to everything; not just loans.

my county goes on lockdown at 8 this evening. I have been out all day with clients. About 4pm, all hell and chaos broke loose. Gas stations over run, people filling barrels. Stores were beyond capacity...i have never seen anything like this. It is sheer pandemonium!

    I don’t think it’s stupid.

The current, and likely past, generation thinks school should be paid for by someone else. If they could go and then file bankruptcy, they would.

I’m really too old to make sense of going back to school, but I wouldn’t mind an 85k truck. If fi felt like I could go sign for it, never pay for it, AND get to keep it....**** it. How bout we all just not pay for our homes and we get to keep them too.

What exactly are the parameters of the lockdown? Can people still go to the grocery store and gas station? Are "essential" workers permitted to go into work (hospital workers, grocery store workers, etc.)? We have been on a shut down for two week and only "essential" employers go to work. Everything, including all casinos and retail outlets are closed. Restaurants can serve take out but you cannot dine in. I'm just wondering what "lockdown" means there.

The order is pretty vague. No one knows specifically. no non essential people are allowed to be out in about. food workers, government agencies, emergency personnel etc are the only ones who are supposed to be out. its a stay at home order.
