I thought I'd share this inexpensive mod

I used a factory ford clamp instead of the one that came with the kit

Vaccum cap and a plug....$12 plus shipping? This couldn't cost more than $5 at Lowe's or HD.

OP, do you happen to have info on the cap and plug sizes?

Thanks,
Eric

the cap is 1 1/2" and I looked everywhere for something to use and actually wanted to order the JHR cap, but they're currently unavailable, so when I found this kit I thought for $12 what the heck and for me its worth it...

I had a couple of different sized 'rubber tips' from Lowes sitting around my garage. Fit perfect, and the cap on the intake side looks better, IMO, than the kit from Cooltech.

Shop Waxman 1/10" Rubber Tips at Lowes.com

If you look close, they each have a lip towards the top. So, I just jammed them in until the lip was flush with the firewall and with the intake inlet. Looks great, and they are wedged in so hard, I didn't need to use a clamp. I actually had to put a small amount of oil on the intake plug just to get it to go all the way into the inlet.

Since they came out of my toolbox, I'm not sure exactly what sizes they were. Obviously, the intake plug was larger than the plug that went into the firewall.

now, what is this hose we're removing exactly for?
I definitely want to remove it if it's not doing anything... but then I doubt they'd just put it there for no reason.

It brings intake sound into the cockpit...

ahhhhh ... hmmm..
did you notice any difference with it off ?
That would have been a cool mod if the car was turbo'd from factory :rolling:

To make your car quieter. And get rid of excess stuff under the hood. (I am guessing)

so what's the point in deleting the sound tube?
Mainly cosmetic, takes away a large ugly pointless mess out of the engine bay. Call me crazy, but when I took mine off(did this the moment I got mine in the garage lol) I felt like the engine was louder actually
