Connecting to a work server

I work for a small real estate company (No IT department) and we have a server set up to share files, upload pics, ect, and since I have been here (2 years) I am the only one in the office who can't access it. I talked to one of my friends in the IT field and he said it was because I didn't have Windows 8 Pro. I recently updated to Windows 10, still not pro, but is this true that I can't access the server unless I upgrade to pro?

It shows up as S:// on everyone elses computer.

It should still be able to map drives without being pro. The main difference might be if they are joined to an office domain. Not likely since you don't have an IT department, but joining a domain does require at least Windows Pro.

I've never personally done it, but you should be able to upgrade from Home to Pro for $100 at the Microsoft Store: http://winsupersite.com/windows-10/how-easily-upgrade-windows-10-home-windows-10-pro
